    Hi,

My Onkyo TX-SR608, that I bought from you guys a few years ago, has unfortuanately died.

I see from your open box sale post that you have a few receivers
on offer so I'm open to suggestions.

I liked the look of the Onkyo TX-NR676. I liked it mainly because I liked
the sound off my old Onkyo but also because the TX-NR676 has built in
Chromecast. Is the built in chromecast just a bit of a gimmick?

As I said I'm open to suggestions, so any help is appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hi Alright,

sorry to hear your TX-SR608 has died - what has happened to it? Onkyo are actually still repairing some older AV receivers free of charge as part of their Customer care programme? If you can email me the fault and your full serial number to sales@richersounds.ie I'll see if your unit will qualify.

    If you just have a severe case of up-gradeitis ( :D ) I'd really recommend the TXNR676 - and I love Chromecast!

I can do it on a Boardie special reduced from £529 / €629 to just £469 / €529 for you including shipping..

    https://www.richersounds.ie/p-202684-txnr676.aspx

In stock- ready to ship next day so you have some shiny new kit to play with :)

Keep us posted - either way we would love to help,

    ATVB,

Thanks for the reply. I've emailed your sales with the serial number.

If I'm right the problem with the TX-SR608 is simply the power supply board. The
standby transformer or the relay after the standby transformer on the
    power supply board is blown.

I couldn't find a replacement power supply board online and I didn't have
time to take it apart and replace the components.

If Onkyo can repair this then great but the thought of getting the Onkyo
TX-NR676 is also very very appealing and that's a good price too!
You are very astute...I do suffer from up-gradeitis. From what I know there is no cure!
Sometimes the onset of up-gradeitis can be delayed but never cured :)
We'll see what Onkyo come back with regarding the repair first.

    Thanks for your help.
