Into the last week and the race could be over today if Froome puts time into his rivals. A rolling ITT to kick the week off

    PROFIL.png
ITT. 42-kilometre long flat individual time trial, among vineyards and wineries. A route for true specialists that will make big differences to the general classification. The stage is also twice as dangerous as it is being held straight after a rest day.

Dennis has abandoned in the rest day.

Froome is going to put minutes into everyone else in the gc, more than likely take the stage as well.

Poor Dennis. He had a good chance today

And I had him on velogames for that very reason 😂

It's about as flat as a 40km ITT can get! :)

Froome to gain at least one minute on Nibbles and everyone else in the top-10 bar Contador and Kelderman.

Froome will probably win the stage also unless one of the Quick-Step lads does, either Jungels or Lampaert.

Was a pretty bad example of holding onto a car, see video below:

    That's really taking the piss.

Was the video taken by another team car behind the AG2R car?

Don't know if it was a team car, it was certainly an approved Press / Team / Comm's car though to be where it was.

I've walked from Los Arcos to Logrono a couple of times while doing The Camino. I was going a bit slower though and was mostly off road.

Everyone who rode the Tour ....Contador, Chaves, Aru, Meinjies, Bardet & Roche ...have gotten tired

Everyone that is but Froome....he has gotten stronger

He had an easy Tour, his teammates delivered it to him on a plate. He was overweight and had fk all altitude training. He used the Tour to get into shape for the Vuelta. Took a gamble and it's paid off.
I'm still hoping for some ambushing on Muchacos or the Angliru

Connor Dunne has moved from 169th to 164th... but he's still last :pac:
    (due to 5 non-starters today)

That Tour was not easy ..just ask Dan Martin, Fabio Aru or Romain Bardet . Froome was still last man standing at the end and no matter his team he still needed to be top condition on those climbs...dont believe the flannel out of SKY

And the Vuelta has been harder ...with no 'off' day and fast climbing on every stage ...every rider is saying so...look at Aquablue riders ...they dont know what hit them ....

Just amasing to be so strong as I said when everyone who rode the Tour is on their hands and knees

Who do you think, will be fit to do the ambushing?

Lopez is the only hope .....The Shark might but he may not have it
Zakarin & kelderman may be happy to fight each other for podium

Only hope is if Contador & the Shark unite

Lopez is 5m25s back, I don't think that's plausible, only Nibali is within striking distance and able to climb well enough to take enough time out of Froome. Froome goes well on these short steep efforts, like tomorrow and Belles Filles from the Tour, so I can't see him shipping time anywhere bar Angliru unless Sky let a Fromigal happen again which is doubtful, once bitten, twice shy and all that.

It's fair to say Froome deliberately changed his run in to the TDF from prior years, coming in undercooked and taking advantage of a poor parcours to win despite not being at his best, he is now reaping the benefits of that approach versus the other Tour riders. Nibali having done Giro / Vuelta is the only rider who could perhaps get stronger in the final week, as Froome fades if he does.

Here's interesting little stat to back up the above.

The current positions of the GC contenders who also completed the TDF. Only Contador has improved - excluding the Kenyan alien...

It's impossible to see Froome being beaten at this stage, but what chances for a fair bit of change in the other podium positions? Angliru will tell a lot, so it will go down to the wire.

I must find a way to watch tomorrows stage.........

Everyone it seemed of the big guys who rode the Giro was absolutely on their knees in the Tour, except Landa who seemed as fresh as a daisy. And even after the Tour he still kept racing and winning. Seemed to have no tiredness issues at all.

Landa bailed out of the Giro after his crash on stage 9.

That's totally wrong. Landa wasn't in the hunt for gc obviously enough but he rode a very, very active Giro in the mountain stages. Relentlessly in the breaks and there at the end of most mountain stages, 3rd in stage 14, won stage 19, second in stage 18, 2nd in stage 16 - all stages very deep in the race & won the mountains classification by nearly double the total of the second placed rider. No resemblance to your description.
