Odd they sell tickets first, let alone the final the batch of them before an act is even announced. doesn't seem to happen at any other festivals on the continent

I'd imagine so. Possibly gone by EOD Saturday. Fast forward to Thurday when hundreds will then appear on Adverts and Done Deal because the lineup is "****e" and EP is "gone to the dogs". :p

I'm going to go out on a limb and say they won't sell out of tickets before the line up

I agree. You’d be mad to commit now before the lineup announcement, especially considering the amount of other festivals on this year.

Snow Patrol bringing new stuff out in May. Pretty likely addition I'd imagine.

Only a week away - what a lovely surprise!

I'm guessing you are wrong. Even if they get close to it they will announce it as a sell out and filter out some production tickets or put more through the 3 sponsor sales later on in the year.

The sell out is too important as a means of driving early sales to allow not to happen if its close.

How much are the tickets anyone I can't remember? 2 days notice isn't sound

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,497 ✭✭✭BadTurtle

Yeah, can't see why people think this won't sell out immediately. The name is enough now, the only festival with anywhere near it's rep in Ireland as unmissable is Longitude and that's mostly 16-19 year olds.

Didn't it sell out last year before a name was announced? Nothing has changed, they'll do the same this year.

in fairness, the price is pretty much the same every year and they go on sale in March every year so it's not exactly a shock.

Wow that seems a little rushed... Back on sale Sat (not much notice) and no names till next Thurs... I'm not usually a pessimistic person but I have a BAD feeling about this... :D:D

Like everyone i'd love there to be loads of great big acts but
its all about being there and escaping the rat-race for the weekend,
Im sure lots of people feel that way so id expect a quick sell out also.
theres always plenty of great stuff to see if you scratch beneath the surface a bit

    cheers

The "final notice" for tickets is pretty funny when you realise the festival will sell out before a single act is even announced.

    $$$$$$$$

    Edit:

On one hand, I guess it gives the promoters the reassurance that the festival will profit and in turn, I hope it gives the bookers a good margin to work with. On the other, it could also mean they can be lazy because they know the festival will sell out regardless.

    I guess we'll see.
Festival Republic have tended to opt more for the latter in recent years and their lineups so far this year have underwhelmed but I'm still hopeful that with the increased competition in Ireland they'll make a bit more of an effort. Kendrick Lamar, My Bloody Valentine, St Vincent and a few acts off the EotR bill and I'd be delighted.
