Don't think froomes team will be much help to him on last 4 km. it's every man for himself.

I'd say they're helping now. But in racing terms that's just obnoxious to see. small group left, includes two thirds of the entire Sky squad.

Possibly. Not a good time for it to happen either way.

After doping, idiot mountain stage fans are possibly the worst thing about cycling

Great ride from Jarlinson Pantano to deliver Contador to this point, lets hope he can finish it in style and also get on the podium, 3rd is looking good now!

Froome still has a teammate and that is the ultimate difference.
    Contador is amazing today.

Nibali presumably just can't do anything but stick with that group. I think Chris Horner is about to go on the attack. He likes this mountain.

Froome doesn't look great does he?

But his team have been pacing Sky pretty much for all the climb. I suppose they have to to keep Contador within 2 minutes or so.

The GC are doing well to keep running alongside Contador, though the fans are relatively well behaved.

If Contador's retirement was a pragmatic decision based on not having the legs of the younger big guns, there'd be huge reason to re-think that. after this Vuelta. If not for the time-loss cos of being sick early on, he'd very probably be winning the race or at least man on man against Froome. Otoh though as is he goes out on a high it looks like.

Well, by going hard if Froome was on a bad day then going at a hard pace that would cause the cracks to appear. Looks like all they can do as is seeing as the nature of Nibali is to attack if he can.

    Kirby crying is he?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,263 ✭✭✭robyntmorton

Kirby tearing up mentioning Froome. Give me strength.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,630 ✭✭✭pelevin

Poels starts to hand-roll a cigarette while he pushes up the climb for Froome.

Wtf, was Kirby breaking into tears there?!?!?

Kind of what I meant though as if he could he'd have tried to attack. That he could only hang in behind his team-mate spoke of what he had left.
