Getting a loan having lived abroad for 2 years!

    Hey lads,

I just returned from living abroad for the past 2 years. Didn't have any income going into my Irish bank account in this time.

I just got a new job in Dublin, but I'll need to buy a car for the commute, so I'm trying to get a loan of about 10% of my annual base salary.

AIB basically told me over the phone that I can't get a loan without 3 full months of income deposited.

Does anyone have any similar experience with this? Are other banks more understanding if I can show them the employment contract?

...and before someone says it - I don't have a credit union account. :o
