    Hey,

Hoping to head to Bellaghy from Kildare on Saturday to visit the Seamus Heaney Homeplace. Just wondering if anyone knows of good places to stop along the way - or where is the halfway point? Have looked it up on Google Maps but quite unfamiliar with the route, any advice would be appreciated!

Halfway point is somewhere between Dundalk & Banbridge going by eye. Newry wouldn't be far off halfway.

If it was me, I'd consider The Quays in Newry or the Outlet in Banbridge. Plenty of shops & cafes to choose from at both.

Best way is n7, m50, m1 and then it's Newry, Armagh, Dungannon, Cookstown, Moneymore, Magherafelt then Bellaghy. Ask for directions in Magherafelt as it's a small enough village but easy enough found if directed by a local.

As for a stop? Newry is grand but busy. I'd be inclined to either stop at the Applegreen on the M1 at Castlebellingham or if you have sterling and fancy a stop in the north then it is a 10 minute drive past newry to markethill. A quiet little village and the last time I stopped there it had a nice cafe.

Thread moved to where it would be better suited.
