Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Sorry to hear you're waiting so long Can I ask if you don't mind, did your extra vetting come back disclosure viewed at all or did it disappear before that stage

It's now gone from the tracking system so I can't see it anymore.

  • Registered Users Posts: 81 ✭✭dub70

    me too!

    19 weeks and counting

Rang PAS this afternoon and they said there is a batch of candidates awaiting extra clearance due in tomorrow. If we are on it they will contact us tomorrow or Monday.

  • Registered Users Posts: 140 ✭✭crossbeauty

    Fingers crossed then

Got a response for my Garda vetting for the Executive Officer 2016 This may shed some light on the process."The word “disclosure” in this instance means that the National Vetting Bureau have completed that particular strand of vetting. An Garda Siochana vetting is a 3 strand process and can take up to 12 weeks. It is a very in-depth process and a lot of Garda Resources are involved. We hope to have candidates cleared prior to this time but unfortunately we cannot guarantee this".

Got the same. I wouldn’t be in a position to train in portlaois for 4/5 weeks so will have to pass. Doesn’t look like flexi time availble either?

There is no flexi time in the Prison Service and office hours in most prisons are 8-8 so someone has to be there at all times during those hours.

So, is it okay to turn down?

The email is a bit confusing but is clear that if you go to the orientation day, you can decide to say no and return to the general panel.

Yes. You can go as far as the Orientation and still turn it down. 9% more in the salary so might appeal to some people

I also know a prison officer, there is a uniform for this role as it used to be the prison officers that did the role themselves .

I’m definitely going to go to the orientation day for the prison service but I’m a bit nervous about turning it down and going back on the panel. Does anyone know do you go to the end of the list or next in line?

Are the positions with the prison service considered separate from the main panel & if not interested can just be ignored?

No it can’t be ignored, you have to register your interest and go to the orientation. Then if you decide it’s not for you you can go back on the panel. If you ignore it you won’t be considered for any future posts.

The message is slightly confusing as it says that candidates not interested do not have to reply but doesn't say if that removes you from the general panel.

My understanding is you only respond if you are interested. It's only if you go through the process and are offered a position but decline that you come off the panel

No. In this case, the email says because of the nature of the job, you can go to the orientation but then say no and return to the general panel.

Yes. You can ignore the email, or opt to go to orientation and then say no and remain on the panel. It's only if you go as far as been offered and declining that you come off the panel.

I called them today in regards to the prison service. Basically if you’re not interested don’t reply and they’ll reach your oom when it arises.

Not replying won’t remove you from the general panel

So I have my interview next week:

Just checking - The interview is based on the 4 competencies in the booklet. Do they look at the CV? should I prepare a summary of work history? Do they ask anything else?

Cheers in advance. I'm nervous to be honest any advice is very welcome.

They asked me about sending group emails and asked others about new data protection
Interview lasted about 30 minutes and the 2 interviewees were fine ...put me right at ease

For those who have already started..... On your payslip where it says current rate, should this say €465.32 for entry level? That’s the new rate that came into effect 1st January. Mine is lower and not sure why.......

I’m finding conflicting information regarding the pay rate. One gov circular says one amount and another circular gives another rate.

Hey, I am new to this. I have my interview tomorrow, was just wondering if anyone could please give me guidance on the type of questions asked? as in examples? Really nervous. TIA :D

You can get the CO payscale on the FORSA website . Starting salary is €23,572 so €451.74 per week. Th ere are different scales because some are PPC and non PPC and also a higher CO scale . The figures I have given are for a new entrant so that's what everyone should start on .
