    Hi there,

I would love some advice re new surfboards for a 6 and 8 year old.

They're both handy. Surf daily. No problems surfing independently with an old 6ft foam Vision.

However, they've decided they want 'cool proper' boards from Santy. Sigh.

Is there such a thing as a soft board that looks a bit funkier than the usual?

Anyone have any experience with HotSurf 69 boards?

    Any tips much appreciated.

    Cheers.

Have a look at decathlon french sports store they have one in belfast, or troggs surf shop in port rush. If it's time to move away from soft from try the bic 6'7 plastic board. Troggs have some nice looking foam board and the owner is sound if you've any problems call the shop

    or

    https://www.troggs.com/ is port rush

    Whereabouts are you based OP?
Might be better to head to a local surf shop, in order to get some good advive and let them get their hands on a few different boards.

For example, there are huge differences between an average short board and a fish board of the same size.

Fish boards are not for everyone.
Also BIC boards are absolute shïte, so IMO the OP is better going to a surf shop for advice.

    Hi folks.

Thanks for all the replies. I had been looking at that CBC sushi fish online and didn't realise they actually had it in Bundoran. I'll nip out there over the weekend and report back.

On a totally superficial level, I love the look of the Hotsurf 69 but not much in the way of reviews online.

    Cheers again!

The soft boards aren't great but when you are 6 or 8 they will rock, as they improve /get older they can get better boards. Keep an eye on adverts.ie done deal or ask in shops... personally for their age I'd look at the bic 6'10 in a year or two. They will get good use out of it and they don't ding easy. (ding is crack / break... get used to the lingo) If you are looking for stocking fillers. Book DVD..... are great. Check the shipping costs from Troggs if you go for the CBC board as you'll save a good bit. Don't be afraid to call the shop, Andy is a good guy and will give you good advice.
