Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yeah that's what I meant. I watched the Moy semi final on telly and there was no way I was staying to watch them yesterday. As much as I wanted to see Sean Cavanagh play again I just couldn't do it.

    Wow congrats Kanturk!
Commiserations to Ballyraggert. It sounded like a cracker of game on radio.

Na Piarsaigh v Cuala in the hurling final. There must be only one team in the country who could come back from 2 goals and 2 players down, NaP really are something special.

To be fair they were diabolical for 40 mins and missing two of their starting 15 will be a big ask against a team as good as Cuala, will be some game, how NaP handle O'Callaghan will be vital.

It was good win but Slaughtneill are miles off the 3 other teams that were in semis. Cuala destroyed them last year, and their tactics when 2 men up were utterly naïve. Self defeating in fact. You would hardly have known Na Piarsiagh were two men down.

Slaughtneil were fairly limited to be honest. Nearly more amazing that Na Piarsaigh too so long to get going.

Will they defo be out? If they get a month they'll be back surely and that's all they will get. You're right re the first 40 min and it's not the first time Ive seen that it's a bad trait they have. At their best I think they'd win and that includes if casey can keep o Callaghan quiet as at club level anyway he looks unmarkable casey himself was fair poor himself yesterday in first half but stormed into it in second half I was always looking forward to that duel and though I think Croke park will suit nap whoever wins that duel might decide who wins it out.

Suspensions are now given out in matches as opposed to time but even if it was time you still had to miss a game

The Cuala v Mellows game was intense and full of rucks. The game was crying out for players to simply move the ball along the ground out of ruck situations. Then Con Ocallagham makes a genuine attempt to do just that and a free was awarded against him.
I see players are now leading with their feet into these rucks because the refs will now protect them and their feet. Instead of penalising players for pulling on the ball could we not penalise players who dive legs first into rucks.

Lads have been penalised for pulling on a throw ball for ages. pulling on a dropping ball has been whistled out of the game too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,665 ✭✭✭Bonniedog

The O'Callaghan free was laughable. He gave soft frees to both sides for physical challenges that had no malice in them. It was that sort of reffing held Dublin club hurling back for years. It also encouraged a lot of off the ball stuff in frustration.

Good point. The resulting throw in from rucks is farcical. Nobody pulls on the ball resulting in a another ruck. Hurling is generally in a good place but these rucks are very ugly.

Moorefield do drama! Not pretty and the scoreboard won't be busy but hoping for a good game!

Quick sending off. Didn’t see what it was for

    Hardly a red card.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,384 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

I have actually no idea what that red card was for. Even after watching a couple replays of it. Mad.

No IMO nothing much in it.The Moorefield lad came down very heavy after an excellent catch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,384 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

I think the ref thought Farragher kneed the Moorefield full-back in the head. Doesn't look like there was much contact. The full-back actually conned the ref there.

He shouldn't be allowed ref at this level again if he's going to give cards on assumptions.

Even if the player had been caught with a knee, the contact would have been the result of his own team mate pushing the player standing over him.

I initially thought that too in real time, but no 3 conned the ref. The referee can't just guess what happened in a situation like that, if he didn't see an offence, he can't send.the lad off.
Dog of a game, scoreless for 13 minutes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,545 ✭✭✭sgthighway

Liam Healy pretending he was injured when the Corofin Lad crossed over him got him sent off. If you look at replay Farragher is looking down not to touch him. Corofin can appeal it and they will get him back for next game.

This game is suiting Moorefield down to the ground

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,286 ✭✭✭seligehgit

Even with a man down I'd fancy Corofin to win this.

Their footpassing is very impressive as always.

    :D:D:D:D

Teams couldn't beat Moorefield with 2 men extra along the way, most of their games Moores have ended with a man down. This isn't going to be pretty and Corofin are a more formidable opponent but I cannot see them needing to appeal for a final they won't be in.

It same ref as kerry/mayo game?

Corofin still look the better side even with 14 men but it's a tough ask to win a game with a man less for practically the entire match.

They are the better side but this Moorefield team don't know how to lose games this year against ridiculous odds so with the man advantage in a tight scoring first half I can't see them losing btoday

Awful pity that it descended into a 15 v 14 so early

This is the worst game I've ever watched. It's like they're both afraid to pass it forward. Diabolical stuff

Lundy been selfish cost them a goal there

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,286 ✭✭✭seligehgit

Moorefield have had lots of possession but a poor return.

Defensively Corofin are very strong,Fitzgerald and Silke having stormers.

Very impressed with the Corofin goalkeeper, has he ever been tried out for Galway?

Has Jack O Connor a son playing for Moorefield?

Blew an almost certain goal there. Don't know if he was greedy or just didn't see him.

Other way around isn't it. Cian plays Midfield (possibly CHB as well). Eanna is the CF.

Thankfully Corofin have decided to start playing football. The 14 men behind the ball in the first half was painful.

Yeah he replaced Lavelle after Galway were beaten by Roscommon last year. He was first choice for Galway the year before. Don't know if he'll be first choice this year, between himself and Lavelle

You would swear none of these players played together before!
