Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What delays expected Mayo to Dublin for GAA Final?

    Hi,
Just wondering does anyone know what sort of delays to expect tomorrow travelling from Mayo to Dublin??

My son has to get to Ferry port for around 1pm. It would normally take 2hr 30 mins almost on the dot but I suspect with all the match traffic it may take longer.

Does anyone have past experience of what sort of delays to expect & where? Is it likely to affect port traffic?

Well normal traffic would leave here 9ish and be there for 12.30 but i anticipate people with be going early to soak up the atmosphere.. going to be delays in longford, rathowen and the toll on the m4..hard to call if going through roscommon athlone might be a better option... Bring your sandwich and water full tank of diesel and go the toilet before you leave... Dont make any unnessecary stop because trying to get back into traffic could be a nightmare... be aiming to be through charlestown or ballyhaunis before eight id say

Thanks & sorry to contradict you but 3.5hrs would be a bit extreme in normal traffic. We've done it many times in 2.5 hrs.

Usual route is N5 to Longford then N4, M4 & M50 to port tunnel.

I suppose I'm really just wondering if there are any common bottlenecks that cause long delays or does it tend to flow fairly well in general.

How much extra time would you allow? 2.5hours normally perfect.

Normal match traffic i should have said. Rathowen is a normal stop for breakfast on match day so it causes a tailback in Rathowen

OK fair point. but I did however say that it normally takes 2.5hrs. It's actually from Charlestown.:)

As said there will be big delays in Rathowen and possibly Tarmonbarry, i'd allow for at least 4 hours to be safe

Thanks. That seems reasonable. He was actually going to give it 5 hrs but I think that's probably a bit over the top & that's arriving an hour before ferry which again is probably a bit overly cautious. Usually 30-45 mins is easily soon enough.
