I think I might have a virus on my iPad.

I have an Apple iPad (not sure of model, but it's from 2014 and is a good one) with iOS 10.3.3 and have never had any problems with it heretofore.

However, in the past few days when I access some online sites such as Digitalspy, it reroutes me to a gibberish address and then some sort of Tesco competition that looks clearly fake. Do I have a virus and how do I deal with it?

I was always told Apple products and software were much more virus resistant than Andriod or PC based Windows but now I'm not so sure.:(

    Any advice please? Greatly appreciated!

Looks like some malware or adware. Delete your website data history and cookies on the iPad. Go to Settings Safari and press delete history and cookies. Click advanced and delete in there as well. Check your wifi settings and make sure they are what they should be. Do a reboot and try any web site.

Apples would be less vulnerable to viruses but not immune. There would be less viruses aimed at the iPad. Is it jail broken?

That's the result of an advert using Javascript to redirect you, this is one of the reasons using an Ad-Blocker plugin on a desktop is a good choice. There are ad-block plugins for Safari on iOS I am told, using one would mitigate this problem.

I'm getting the same with digital spy on an Android device using chrome browser. Had something similar last year and the common denominator seemed to be using Vodafone for home broadband - somehow these ads were targeting Voda customers. Issue eventually went away. I believe there was an extensive thread on the talk to Vodafone section of boards.

Using Firefox on my phone has stopped the issue, presumably a better ad blocker.

I was on holidays last week staying in a friends house, and that was happening me every time I went to digitalspy, back in my own house now and back to normal. It happened last time I was up there too.

They are with vodafone I think for broadband and I am with Virgin Media. I'm putting it down to either Vodafone or the vodafone router he has.

That is from looking at to much Porn
But seriously it is related to dodgy sites. Close down browser and just delete cookies and history and you will be fine. It is not a virus.

    Doesn't work
They match your mobile number and fire ads at you that way.

If you hotspot on another device happens to that too

    If I don't use adblocker I get Bet365 ads

But if I use house WiFi with Vodafone nothing, completely clear.

It's a Data Protection Issue and the regulator doesn't give a Fúck

Same as everything in Ireland, regulator is just excessive paid jobs for their cronies

There is no way a website can see your phone number or link it to you device. IP address yes.
I have got caught out even with ad blockers that certain sites render safari unusable. Closing of from the background and “clear history and website data” fixes it for me.

When I have time I'll make a video
Showing the same music website loading over the Vodafone, Eir and 3 network with only 3 suffering from Bet365 or Fake Tesco popups

You access the mobile network with your associated number and thus IP address, 3 sell these details to third parties, that's why it only happens on 3 or hotspotting through 3

I also may have a friend working in 3 who would confirm this if it didn't mean their job
