IMO Young Halawa can break any law he likes here as folks will simply complain how the poor young-fella was 'set up by lying Gardai.'

    Are you actually that stupid?

Such an outcome if he committed a crime here would not be surprising .The only stupid thing is the possibility .Poor wee halawee .

I believe they couldn't stand listening to him bitching and crying all the time.....

What's the story with him still being detained? Surely he was entitled to leave the court a free man once the judge decided he be acquitted?

Well he said Egypt is his home so maybe he wants to (hopefully) stay over there.

I heard from RTÉ today that the government will be writing to the Egyptian President to ask for Ibrahim Halawa to be released from prison in Egypt & come home to Ireland as soon as possible. This is because of a delay in processing prison release papers by prison authorities in Egypt. Ibrahim's family have said that arrangements to bring him home to Ireland should be done in private.

How about his oul fella pays to fly him back out of his own pocket, he was well able to fly out there in the first place on his own steam let him do the same on the way back.

The lads in Dubai aren't short of a few bob anyway if he has no money.

I was listening to something on radio today that said that ALL those released/acquitted along with him had to be processed for release under the same paperwork. Hence the delay. Poor little lad. At least he has been acquitted. Enough now, let the Egyptian system process it now.

Hilarious the family want his return done privately yet they bored us, well me, to tears over the past couple of years with their endless bleating about his innocence.

I say Egypt should keep him and take his family too.
Funny how they're in no rush to head there

their funds are tied up elsewhere, so it's our job to do it.

so what? anyone with any sense wouldn't be in a rush to go there or to any middle eastern country, until such time as their governments modernise and begin subscribing to decent moral values.

ticking a box on a form does not make you of a religion.

So you are now privy to their financial affairs and bank accounts? Would you get off the stage :D

If they can afford three legal teams they can well afford to bring him home themselves. The government have gone over and above their call of duty, they can look after themselves from here on.

So after 4 years in prison and over 30 adjournments he's finally acquited on all charges

    link

I can sense a lot of people aren't going to be happy

He's out now so now so they'll be even more unhappy......

So he is going to get home to Ireland. That's great news. I hope he gets a lot of time to recover from his horrific ordeal in Egypt.

You have to look at the upside, him being released gives our own security services a chance to send this lad away.

How much has he already cost the taxpayer? And how much will surveillance etc cost us once he gets home.

How does having suspicians of the motivations of a supporter of a violent sectarian organisation make one a racist.

If some white scumbags went over to Charlottesville and got themselves locked up I'd feel exactly the same on the issue.

Listening to it on RTÉ morning Ireland. Did that woman in clonskeagh just say she wanted to have a beer with him to celebrate?!

Probably get a breakfast roll as a cure the following morning

Coveney on RTÉ listing the amount of effort put into this case.

He said former taosigh, multiple ambassadors and diplomats involved.

20,000 ! diplomacy hours of work he estimates

He says this level of effort is completely unprecedented and how glad he is that Halawa has been released.

Well it's dripping from your tone. Sorry but what evidence do you have that Halawa is the Muslim equivalent of a white supremacist scumbag?

Tell us if you're so knowledgeable on the political landscape in Egypt. Which side do you think it would have been acceptable for Halawa to support?
