you should try ashtown ,it's a 15 minute walk from there, your close to buses on thenavan road train line is on your door step and luas to be opening soon which is quite near

Tolka vale is as close to Glasnevin as it is Finglas, there is no anti-social behaviour around there.
Large areas of Finglas are perfectly fine to live in, I grew up in Finglas east, down towards Willow park/Grove park, just around the corner from where Bono grew up, didn't do him any harm. There are a few areas in the South and West I wouldn't be pushed about living in. East and North are mostly fine, Hampton wood seems like very good value, very new and mixed so quite safe. Royal Canal park the same though a bit more expensive.

Tolka Vale seems nice, I lived in Prospect Hill just a bit up from there 3 years ago for 2 years. Myself and my friend (2 girls late 20's) rented a top floor apartment with views of the city for less than €900 a month, those were the days!

Anyway, for the 2 years I lived there we never had any trouble what so ever. We both drive and only had one parking space so one person got the ensuite, the other the parking spot, it was fair. My car was never touched outside the block for the two years I lived there. If you're interested in apartments check out how many spaces you will have as most blocks have clamping in operation.

Tolka Vale has the bus stop across the road straight into town, so handy. Also it's a short distance to phibsboro and magowans by bus and taxi. We didn't socialise in finglas village but used the big Tesco for shopping and an Aldi further up.

I've lived in Tolka Vale for 3 years. Probably in the same building where the apartment is for sale. Never had any problems.
There is no designated parking spaces, but I never had any issues find a parking spot.
Now I moved into Charlestown(no problems whatsoever ), so Finglas has bad and good areas.

It's grand. I have considered Lanesborough when I looked for an apartment at the beginning of this year, but was bid out.

Actually the areas that I consider to be OK in this part of the Finglas are Charlestown, Lanesborough and Meakstown.

Yeah it seems nice. I looked at a few places up there last month and walked around the area afterwards and it seems fine.

ridiculous thing to say people keep tarring areas like finglas ballymun darndale with the one brush saying theres drugs scrambles robbed cars gangs of kids going around but its only people who go looking for trouble who find it just keep your head down and keep to yourserselfs and you wont have any problems.

Like most areas now Finglas has its good & it's bad.

Definitely scope out the neighbourhood in the evening/at night to see what it's like.

I moved to Blanchardstown & it's got sooooo bad!

Any apartments in the East/West Finglas should be good - around Charlstown is nice, they've held their value over to the years with the cinema n'all.

I wouldn't recommend the middle of Finglas (around the church of annunciation) or south Finglas (Dunnes/Tesco's).

Worth mentioning that the Luas extension to Finglas will be up and running by 2028 if not before then. It'll do for Finglas what the Broombridge extension did for Cabra.

You can see people riding horses in estates all over Dublin ,I d be happy to buy a house in finglas if the price is right in certain estates I know .I understand to a stranger it all looks the same they see no variation in certain estates there's private estates and apartments talk to locals from the area if you want more detailed advice
