Napoleon has taken the reigns. Wait for the long March against Russia that will ensue.

And the vote wasn't even close. 37-8 against Cookson.

No, it was 37-8 in favour of real change. Or so time will tell.

    Yeh right

Well, the new fella actually speaks French so he can actually get by in the country in which he will now reside unlike the last two!

I am taking a great leap on assuming that neither of the other two spoke French!

Isn't that what we said when Cookson was elected?

Exactly! My post was written with a wry smile on my face. I can't believe that hasn't come across in print!

I don't think there were too many investing too much hope in Cookson; it was, as I recall, pointed out on numerous occasions that he sat at the UCI top table, & didn't make any fuss when all the crap was going on.

Not to mention he was more of an anyone but Pat type of candidate.

You can get by in Switzerland without speaking French. I know a few people living and working there who only speak English. It's a multilingual country and their dialects of French and German are quite different.

I was being facetious. I'm not that ignorant.

No idea about the new guy, but Cookson was useless, and as it turned out just as compromised as Pat. Shows the danger of an "anyone but" candidate.

ASO seemed pretty happy with Lappartient getting elected. Prudhomme wouldn't say if he voted for him but absolutely delighted with his win.

For this reason I can't see this guy upsetting the status quo. ASO will continue to make the majority of the money in pro cycling and the teams will live from year to year. If they ever get around to buying RCS the sport will be 100% under the control of a monopoly.

Heard something about Lappartient looking to put in place a new Honorary role, along the lines of Hein previously, with a certain Irishman's name being mentioned (and not a Kelly or a Roche)

He's already announced the removal of the TTT from the world's. An event which saw no French team turn up for. Hmm

A certain Irishman will have no part in any such role.

Could we try and nominate a different Irishman the next time. I think Morana would be a great candidate (except for nattering on about some other sport in the UK with red jerseys).

Wouldn't touch him with a bargepole

Guess if it provides him all expenses paid lodgings in the Swiss Alps I may not need to mind. In fact he could take that other scouser with him......:p

For a brief moment I had a vision of Kimmage being offered a role in UCI ...

then I took my pills, & the madness passed :D

It would be hilarious, & ultimately much more entertaining than the TdF we got this year, watching Kimmage going thru UCI like an atomic powered tornado
