I'm coming from the Pani G20 which i loved. Given that im not in a position to view this myself which would you recommend? Also if there is a particularly good tv slightly above the price point id be willing to go slightly higher.

    Oh Tazz,

if you are looking at approx €1500 and you are used to a Plasma - then you really should hold off and save a bit for an OLED - they really are the first thing that shows a significant improvement over your Pana Plasma - ( and the difference is stunning!).

I do appreciate that at the current € price the LG OLED 55B7 is a good bit over budget but its honestly worth saving for and holding off for a couple of months.

I'll PM you our best current Boardie price - but honestly if you can even get close to it - its really worth every cent!

Think you sold me on the OLED. Might take another while to get the extra cash but i think thats the way to go.

Couple of other questions. With going to 4k I think im gonna need a new receiver. I'm coming from a Denon AVR1612 with the boston XS5.1's what would you recommend? I'm happy enough to stay with 5.1 I am tempted by atomos but is it really worth it? Also would you recommend an upgraded center speaker?

    Hi Tazzz,

thanks for the post and apologies for the delay getting back to you :o - good decision on the OLED - we would far rather you hold off and get what's right for you rather than get a quick sale!

On the AVR1612 - to be honest that's a really good AVR and sounds great - you could keep it no problem and just use the optical input on the AVR1612 to replay the Audio and route the HDMI direct from your source to the OLED - you could also use the optical out from the TV direct into the AVR1612 but you may not get full 5.1 depending on the format output of whichever source you are using.

If you did want to upgrade, ATMOS is a really good upgrade and if you wanted to stick with Denon you can get ATMOS from the AVRX2400 at £469 / €549 - I really think that Atmos is worth the upgrade and it can be accommodated  without too much additional clutter if you use ATMOS speakers like the Elac Debut A4 or the Onkyo SKH410:

    https://euro.richersounds.ie/p-200949-skh410.aspx

If you wanted to keep your Boston XS5.1 ( and its a cracking system!) and you wanted to keep the centre compact, neat and good looking but with a serious audio upgrade then I'd look towards the Monitor Audio Radius 200 which is a really top-quality / really well built centre ( its available in Black Piano Lacquer/ Walnut / White Piano Lacquer:

As ever if, when you are ready just drop us a line and we will happily try to do you our very best Boardie pricing on that bundle!

John thanks for the reply. My main source of content will be from an nvidia shield TV. At least for the 4k content anyway. Everything else can come through the receiver.

Been looking up reviews of this and the best ways to do this and ensure full audio support and it seems if the TV doesn't support audio pass through then a USB to optical cable/converter connected to the shield is the way to go. Are you aware if the TV supports full audio pass through??

    Hey TazzzZ.

    Sorry for the delay.

The TV will be able to pass through audio either via the ARC HMDI but as your 1612 is not ARC compatible or via the optical which is your best option direct from the television into your amp. You Nvidia box would then be connected directly to the TV via HDMI.

In regards a USB to optical converter, this is not something I have came across before and would have no idea on the output quality of this.

    Let me know your thoughts.
