Ryan Burnett (IRL) 19–0–0 (WBA (Super) World Champion)
Emmanuel Rodríguez (PUR) 18–0–0 IBF World Champion
Naoya Inoue (JPN) 16–0–0 WBA (Regular) World Champion
    Jason Moloney (AUS) 17–0–0
    Nonito Donaire (PHI) 38–5–0
    Juan Carlos Payano (DOM) 20–1–0
    Mikhail Aloyan (RUS) 4-0-0

Burnett is seeded 1, Inoue 2, Tete 3 and Rodriguez 4.

The draft is later today, I'd imagine we'll be seeing a Tete vs Inoue Semi final :)

Actually I just checked and the schedule last year was 1 vs 3 and 2 vs 4 so It should be a Burnett vs Tete semi final

Yigit and Baranchyk are fighting each other for the IBF arent they?

and Troyanovsky is mandatatory for Relikh?

Prograis will pick Martin and Taylor gets Flanagan

How do I get ITV Box Office on the Sky Platform?

If I remember correctly, the last time it was only on HD which I don't have.

You need a HD or Sky Q box, otherwise buy an stream online through tv player?

    Thanks for that.

However, when trying to pay for the event, it is asking for a 'billing post code'. I entered my Eir code and it doesn't recognise it.

Is it only taking UK codes?

No Idea, I was able to sign up about a year ago. Maybe just make one up?

After the fiasco that was Groves/Eubank I’m keeping well away from ITV..

Fook it. Maybe not...Usyk/Gassiev has to be chanced..

    Just bought it..

Gassiev has gone slight favourite with the bookies now.
He was 3/1 after the semi finals.
    The Russian factor?

It has to be better value than Bellew vs Cleverly!

I Find it interesting that Burnett picked Donaire when the most obviously weak pick for him was Aloyan (4-0, 0 KO's, 2 SDs).
Now he has been pictured out for Dinner with Donaire and both their partners. They are obviously quite friendly after the Frampton fight. It doesn't seem a good business decision if the purses are guaranteed but peraps he makes a lot more from a Donaire QF in Belfast?

That record is deceiving. Aloyan has been one of Russia's best amateurs for a good few years now. I'm not sure how he's allowed to box given his silver in Rio was taken off him in Rio for failing a doping test. Only in boxing.

Forgetting his amatuer record (and doping offences), as a pro he has only fought 4 Nicaraguan opponents in Russia, journeymen at best and won 2 of them by controversial Split decision.
He is also moving up from Flyweight to Bantamweight.
Everything suggests he is only in the tourney for the Russian market and he is clearly outclassed professionally. Tete should have an easy night, but why didn't Burnett pick him considering he would have had a home tie?

If Donaire can make Bantamweight without killing himself, he ill surely be much more dangerous than Aloyan.

I can't see Usyk being affected by boxing in Russia. He's a road warrior that will fight anywhere. The fact that it's in Russia will probably provide extra motivation given the political stuff in his region. I think Usyk @ 5/4 on pts is a good bet.

You can get 8/5 on Usyk/pts if you just avoid Paddy power!!
    https://www.oddschecker.com/boxing/oleksandr-usyk-v-murat-gassiev/method-of-victory

Gassiev on Pts has come in significantly so the betting indicates that Usyk is less likely to win a tight fight on point sin Moscow

I can't recall Russia having a reputation for dodgy decisions. The neck on that Gassiev, he just looks like someone that would be hard to stop and Usyk isn't a big puncher. I think this fight has points written all over it and Usyk for me is the better all round boxer. Who do you fancy in terms of a bet?

I won a nice big bet on Usyk pts against Breidis, I think I got evens.
I would probably fancy the same again but I don't want to cloud my judgement of this fight with betting bias so i reckon I'll just watch this as a fan.

Odds movement has been interesting but the Russia thing seems to be influential for people. I've also noticed that Usyk has no trainer any more which is obviously a huge concern. I knew he started working with Lomachenko's father for a little after dropping Bashir but seems he just has a cut man now only. Sanchez will have have Gassiev tuned perfectly no doubt. I think Usyk is the better fighter and should win but things are definitely stacked against him.

You can order if you have a Sky or Virgin box. Don't think you have to be a UK resident to order through the player (may be wrong there)

Can't wait for this. Basically a 200lbs Loma against a 200lbs GGG. Doesn't get much better. Just really hope dodgy Russian cards aren't a factor.

That's my worry in the main event. Gassiev being competitive could mean a decision win. I would hope the WBSS continues with the fair judging it has shown so far, but considering this is Putin's Russia, I will reserve judgement.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 610 ✭✭✭Sprinter Sacre

I had it 8-4 Nadjib but yeah horrific cards. Chudinov knew himself he'd lost. I think I'll cry if they rob Usyk. Let the fight play out the way it happens, these fights are once in a decade fights.

Hopefully the WBSS have done their due diligence to make sure the main event is ok. Cards have all been ok up to this point in both weight classes bar maybe Smith-Skoglund which was way too wide to Smith and that amazing Groves-Eubank 115-113 card. **** knows with Russia though.

    Yes I have the fight.
Used a VPN to order it on ITV pay per view.
£9.99 which worked out at €11.13.

I think the key here is what Duke said: Gassiev’s feet being a little slow and plodding will see him fall short...

Usyk too much activity, pace and rhythm/momentum.

You would think that alright. Dorticos just stood in front of Gassiev. Saying that Briedis isn't too much of a mover and he had lots of joy vs Usyk. Fascinating fight.

We all know it's highly likely here that Usyk needs to knock him out.

It's the only drawback this fight has really, buts let's hope we get an excellent fight with not much controversy. A fight like this in boxing deserves it.
