    Howdy ya'll.

Anyone got any suggestions for a decent, inexpensive hotel to use as a base for driving around Connemara for a few days? Asking for a couple of visiting, very budget conscious Yanks.

Doesn't need to be near Galway City, or be all that fancy. They would prefer somewhere located in a town/village, so they can walk down to the local in the evenings. They aren't foodies, so proximity to restaurants isn't all that important. Not trad fans either.

Is there anywhere in particular that is good to use as base, to head out from each day, the way that Kilarney is in Kerry for example? If they are there for 3 days, are there any particular routes they should follow on Days 1, 2 and 3, to maximize seeing as much of the area as possible? They already saw Kylemore Abbey on a day trip on a previous visit, so that is not a must see on this trip.

Sorry, that is more than asking about hotels, isn't it?

    Cheers !

Clifden & Roundstone should both have reasonably priced B & B's at this time of year, and are both good spots for a base to explore from.

A quick google for B & B's in these areas should sort you out

Leenane would be a good base.
    Good hotel and some guesthouses
