Noticed one of my wall sockets earlier - attached.

This powers my washing machine and Tumble dryer.

Does this look dodge ? I.e. The crack etc.

Dodgy is too short a word...that's downright dangerous.

Aside from the crack, it looks like there's a cable going somewhere (possibly to power an appliance) that isn't fused....

I'd be inclined to sort it out asap.

Could be a stain but it also looks like the live & neutral might be overheating. I'm looking at the brownish stains above the left & right holes

Thanks all. So either way, it needs looking at.

It also looks as if it's directly under a drain and the hole for the ducting is open at the top of the socket box. Where does the dark cable go to??

This is an accident waiting to happen...

    Looks dangerous.
    Crack ed face
    Way too close to water
    Open back
    Unprotected wires
    get it looked at asap
And not by whoever fitted it

    It's located under a sink.

I have attached more pics. Black cable does not go too far as you will see in pics.

Black is an earth. Very shoddy bit of work I'd be getting it sorted if I was you. I don't know why the socket wasn't fitted where the cable comes out of the wall.

Yeah. Looks dodge alright. Especially when powering these finnicky / fire hazard tumble dryers we hear of.

It's a rented house I'm in. Is it up to the landlord to sort this ?

Get 2 single sockets rather than a double . Washing machine and dryer is a heavy load for a cheap double

I like the the way he used the earth tape to coil the nymj, and decided to tape the blue single black? the crap connection on bonding strap is what breaks my heart tho.
