First time buyer in a public sector job. Also, does having online gambling on accounts from previous years affect the likelihood of a bank loaning money?

You need 10% of what you want to borrow and it can't exceed 3.5 times your gross salary.

Not sure about the gambling but I'd knock it on the head for a while until youve got your deposit together.

    Hi Megatitan,

Thanks for getting in contact with us here.

I can confirm that you would need 10% of the property value for a deposit. Once you have this you can apply for a Mortgage with us. I've given a link here that you can use not only to check how much your repayments would be but also to apply for a mortgage with us.

    Thanks again for your message.
    Darren.

And in regards to having paddypower or whatever on old statements? If its clean for 12 months is that usually sufficient?

Thanks for getting back to us Megatitan,

Our Mortgage specialists would usually take 6 months of statements into account when your application is being processed. To have a further look into this I would ask that you contact our mortgage specialists (you can request a call back through the link given in the last message) and they'll be able to take everything into account and confirm any steps that you may need to take.

    Thanks again,
    Darren.
