If you just trade it straight away they will knock the €50 off the price and you just pay 20 euro for the jersey and console.

I'd open it before trading it in so the fcukers can't re-sell it again as new.

Wonder how many "new" copies of FIFA 18 will have been sold twice by gamestop in coming days.

Anyone know if Santry/Omni doing this?

    Tried calling but no answer.

Santry sold out,my sister was there an hour ago.Went to Charlestown and got the last one.

While checking out ask them for a gamestop member card, takes another €9 off the price.

Got the deal today with the Ronaldo Edition of FIFA for the lower price. Worth noting that the guy who took in my order said that they had the exact same deal for anyone who wanted to trade in a launch PS4. Give them your PS4 and get the Xbox One S with FIFA and Forza for €69

Just travelled to cavan and got mine. Called Gamestop this morning at 10 and the guy in the store was a top guy and held the console by for me while I travelled from Monaghan for it. Super happy with my shiny new Xbox

Is that just the loyalty card? (didn't really give me a choice though :pac:) They gave me one but I don't think I got a 9 euro discount.

Refurb fee???? Do the gamestop staff just make things up, it really is the worst shop I have ever come across in terms of comunication and lack of consistency

Why are they fcukers? No need to be calling them names now. The dude that served me this morning was a proper gent. There were second-hand copies of Fifa Ronnie on sale already in the shop so they aren't passing them off as new.

Even if they were selling (unopened) games as new, I wouldn't get upset about it - they must be losing money hand over fist on this upgrade deal...

Although I don't know how this deal is feasible for them they surely wouldn't be doing it if they were losing money?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,523 ✭✭✭machalla

Presumably they are getting some support from Microsoft as well.

I was told that its Microsofts way of saying thanks for Gamestop coming up with the idea of selling the jerseys

100% profit made on reselling trade ins consoles/games. Little to none on selling new consoles and not much on games.

Yeah the guy I dealt with yesterday said as much. Either way Gamestop wouldn't be doing it unless there was something in it for them.

Why would Microsoft be saying thank you to GameStop for selling an EA Jersey?

Gamestop only giving a 1 month warranty with this deal. Remainder is with Microsoft. So register your Xbox online.

They can't do that legally, no matter what they say to get you to sign up to their insurance. Your contract is with Gamestop, no-one else.

He wasn’t trying to push insurance.

Guys, I asked earlier if Santry was OK. Someone replied and said they were sold out. Thanks to this thread, I mentioned about getting a code instead of a hard copy. The great manager up there double-checked to see if he could print a code and he did.

They're all out of Forza consoles so I settled for Minecraft. Never played it and maybe the missus will.

Anyway, if they're sold out or say that they only have pre-orders left, just kindly ask if they can print you a code for a digital copy. It worked out for me in Santry anyway, thanks to another member on here saying that's what he/she done.

Thanks OP too! Great deal! Best deal I ever got on a console.

@TheBrinch: It should be every branch because this deal is created by Microsoft and EA/FIFA. It's not a deal Gamestop came up with.

I don't think it is a Microsoft deal as they are offering a similar deal on PS4 to PS4 Slim.

The PS4 deal is not as good though, 99.99 to trade in for the Slim. No jersey either.

I didn't say it was as good but it might suit someone looking to upgrade to a PS4 slim better.

If it was a Microsoft offer GameStop would not be offering a similar deal on the PlayStation.

That's true. Just relaying what I was told by the staff. The offer isn't as good with the PS though.

My thoughts (which are now irrelevant) was that they were better off having a bunch of used original Xbox One consoles to sell on the secondhand market than brand new One S consoles now that the One X is out. The profit margin of selling used consoles is around the same as new ones so why not get rid of a bunch of brand new consoles and slowly sell the used ones. Because nobody will really want to buy a One S when the One X is out. Am I silly? Does that make sense?

I seen the PS deal. I was told that because PS have exclusive bundle rights this year, Microsoft and EA teamed up to make this deal happen. Might account for why the deal is better. Could be Gamestop mimicking the deal for some strange reason.

But no, it doesn't make sense.. the info I got conflicts with there being a Sony deal. Strange one.

It's one of those deals that seems so good, it's a head-scratcher.

The One X isn't out until November, and is targeted at different customer than the One S. The X will be €500 and the S €220-€250, the S will sell way more than the X. Parents will buy the S over the X everyday of the week. It's very similar to the Elite Controller, most people won't pay €130ish for a controller but there is still a huge market for them, and those people are the people the X is aimed at.

The One S will be a better buy at €220-€250 (which it regularly drops to) than a second hand One (currently selling for €209 in GameStop). The One S is more efficient, smaller form factor, 4K Blueray player and 4K upscaling on games. GameStop will be targeting those with little knowledge of gaming (parents/grandparents etc) and upsell these second hand units.

Looking at the receipts posted here it looks like GameStop have given €160ish as the trade in value on the Ones and will sell them for €210. They will make slightly more profit per unit on these second hand units than selling the new consoles I'd guess. Most of the profit is from selling games, accessories and collectibles and not the consoles themselves.

    Legend OP!
Got mine today in Charlestown. 61 with my old xbone traded in against it.
Couldn't do it in Omni as they had no FIFA left and wouldn't let me do the trade now and pick up the game on Friday.
I had a day one Xbox so was happy to change for the size alone or use to stick out of my TV cabinet, fits perfect now and it's silent :D

Head to the settings section on the Xbox and find storage and select it, there will be a tile on the far right and select that. It will show you the % used with the downloaded games/apps etc. Should be able to tell from that (bear in mind the Xbox OS etc will take up a fare part of that storage)

    364 - 297 = 67 used. 67 is 18% of 364.

    Either way, it's a 500gb Xbox one.
