We need to go for goals now as 30 mins fly along and Tipp just need to keep the scoreboard ticking as they are doing now. Now 13 points up.

    Pathetic stuff

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,542 ✭✭✭The White Feather

I wouldn't even bother with points now just go for goals every time.

20 mins left. We aren't going to get 12 points without them scoring

I love your optimism but the game was over after 15 minutes

Ah I know but i'm hoping we can put a squeeze on them at least!

No skill, no heart bar 3 or 4, no tactics, another sorry day for Cork hurling.

We have become a soft touch

Ah come on thats silly. Its real disappointing but that start would kill any team.

Great goal there from Tommy O'Connell at least

I agree. Love to know when it happened. Cork would have been considered a tough team in past years but now we are hardly a concern for other teams. That includes the senior squad

1-1 in quick succession, the comeback is on? :D:D

Should be about 5 mins extra time at least

Is it. Are we now at a stage that getting beaten easily to Tipp is acceptable

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,542 ✭✭✭The White Feather

What was that red for? Must have did something the linesman saw

Congats to Tipp. That opening 10 mins killed us. I think we will get a good few seniors from this team.

Losing the final in this manner is awfully disappointing but the main thing is bringing players through to the seniors.

    It was a second yellow.

People say Cork football is in crisis. It’s the other way around ffs.

I don’t think it’s at crisis, but boy do we lack balls and a physical presence.

We have become way too nice and have been left behind.

They still got to the final, but at end of day when it really mattered yet again players went missing.

I can see your point though.

Since 2000 Cork have won 1 minor, 0 U20/21 and 2 senior all Ireland's in hurling and none at all since 2005. That's beyond a crisis at this point. Cork football has won 3 U20/21 and a senior since the last time the hurlers won anything and have a great shot at winning the minor football next week.

There's no steel in Cork Gaa any more ,no bottle.
Soft and mentally weak ,bit like Arsenal in soccer.

Im beginning to think, that we are further away from winning Liam McCarthy than i initially thought.Cork teams can't produce the goods on the big stage anymore. As for Dennis Ring.He has given great service to Cork hurling, but a change of manager is badly needed.

Its actually hard to disagree with that.

Cork hurling teams are playing hurling with soccer like physicality.. the likes of Tipp ,kilkenny and Limerick, Galway are playing hurling with rugby type physicality. Wheres the ruthless corner back...the dominating fullback..the powerful centre forward...wheres the ash...Its a disaster. I grew up watching Cork and was always told my my Clare father that Cork never look for trouble but by God they dont back down. Cork back down now..Some of those Tipp forwards running through should have been met with a shoulder in the centre of their body mass and take the cards...so sad.

Can I ask why you say it’s ‘so sad’.......all other counties have gone through similar if not deeper ‘down turns’....why Shouldn’t the ‘langers’ feel some pain......they have a huge playin population probably only second to Dublin so you would have to point finger at co boards and management ....??? Donal og needs to get in their before ‘John bulls’ game takes over completely. Depending on tradition to pull you through a ‘down turn’ in success is not going to work........the edge and fear that the cork jersey put into oppositions heads is well and truely gone and no loss.....but it’s the first mistake a lot of the ‘weaker counties’ used to make but not anymore.....thankfully all the top 7/8 county sides and even club sides wouldn’t ‘fear cork’ anthing Like they did 30/40 years ago.....incidently when is the last time a cork club won the Munster or All Ireland club final.....2002/2003....?

Well you are the right man to talk about downturns, being from Waterford and all.;)

i said that to a mate of mine after the tipperary game in the munster final , cork underage teams in the 90s and early 2000s would never allowed tipp the chance to get back into the game ,

i dont mean to be slagging cork gaa off ,but this is not the norm for cork hurling especially a scoreline like that

No shortage of talent but we’re not able to deliver results
    Very frustrating
Time for some senior greats to get back into the fold
Eg donal O’Grady as next u20 manager

The main thing was to win the All Ireland and we failed.

Yeah sure that must be promising for players going into the senior panel.

Following last years final loss to Tip I was enraged at how easy Tip fowards got in for late goals.

    Soft defending.

12 months later, 4 goals conceded in first 10 minutes- game over.

We have learned nothing and will continue to win nothing until that lesson is learned, at every grade, both codes.

Soft defending but across all grades Cork dont seem to have goal poachers. Hard to accept for people who remember the days of Charlie McCarthy, Seanie O Leary etc

Commiserations last night lads. In fairness, its a good Under 20 team ye have, but any team would struggle to come back after that 4 goal Blitzkrieg by Tipp. After that, Cork kept at it, there was no throwing in the towel. If Sean Twomeys shot had snuck inside the post it was down to a 4 point game. I definitely wouldn't lose faith with that bunch, and definitely see a few seniors in it for ye.

As others have said though, and it sounds bad saying it, but Cork need to learn a bit of cynicism to get further. It seems all Cork teams have great stickmen from Minor to Senior but have very few if any lads that are willing to take a yellow card for the team. You need a mix.
