Found out there was talk of them amalgamating for hurling only, 99% certain it wont happen though.

    Why is that?

Probably because the emphasis is on football for a number of years. Hurlers need to regrade to junior B realistically where they can be more competitive. We were always more a football club historucally although we had a great hurling team that won the intermediate and went senior for a few years. Footballers are doing well for a few years now and numbers wise it's harder for the hurlers currently I think.
We have a set up with Vincent's whereby our girls can play camogie with them and their girls can play football with us, seems to be working out ok.

Would an amalgamation for those who want to play hurling not work?

Funny enough if a joint amalgamation it would create a very strong team in both codes

Delanys gave us an awful hammering in a JA friendly a few years ago when they won the City for the first time in ages

Throw in few Dillons players and it would be stronger again

I know they play underage together but there was almost an amalgamation between St Marys and Diarmuid O'Mathunas when John Corcoran (Bozo) was alive

They would have been St Marys in Football and Diarmuid O'Mathunas in Hurling

Something similar def could work if both clubs are serious

It possibly could but I reckon Dillons are happy with what they have. Dont know the exact details of what was discussed though.
There are certainly clubs out there that would benefit from some form of an agreement/amalgamation and I can see a lot of advantages.

Don’t know if any of ye have been reading up on what Douglas GAA have been doing. Players are no way at fault. Managers and committee absolutely should be suspended. They’ve been doing that at all levels for years in Seandun.

Dillons are only doing this because they could never win the county. They win all round them in Seandun and pump MASSIVE amounts of money into their A team but can never get past the county stages.

not sure I'd give the players a completely free pass, they are 17/18 year olds not u12s. they should know the difference between A and B competitions.

Any idea if the manager/coaches are current intercounty players?

I must have missed the Douglas situation. Can someone explain it please?

They fielded their premier Minor team (I think it was Minor) in the A or B final after winning the premier. They won the second final too. They got found out and got massive suspensions, from senior committee to the players.

Bloody hell that's serious. When you say they "got found out" do you mean the players were incorrectly named as other (non-premier) players on the teamsheet? Or did they just name the ineligible players in the B final hoping nobody would notice?

It would be interesting to hear what their defense would be or of there was some kind of mix-up.

I think they just named the same players.

Anotjer Munster title for Nemo Rangers today, winning 15 pts to 6

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,351 ✭✭✭Rasputin11

Is it true that Nemo basically ignore success at underage level to focus on player development and giving everyone a game?

Orla Cotter unlikely to play next year, gone to New York with her husband. Great player and freetaker, will be a huge loss

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,039 ✭✭✭KrustyUCC

The best thing about Nemo is the coaching

From under 10 to senior their teams all play the same brand

That way players can plug into a different team and still be expecting to be able to perform

Getting good quality transfers helps as well

Mark White won't be available for the footballers as he is going to America next year. Ciaran Sheehan is hoping to be involved as well as a good few from the winning U20 team. They have been training away hoping to make the panel.

Kevin Flahive ruled out of at least the league after surgery on a shoulder injury

Did people actually part with their money to watch this stuff?
Looks like the GAA management haven't a clue how to run the show.
Unlikely to change ant time soon either.
