Really looking forward to Waterford game today. I hope we will play a 3 man midfield with Darragh dropping back joining copper and Coleman. With cooper playing as sweeper. The two boys will cause wreck going forward. My money is on Darragh Fitz for hurler of the year. His ability to get ball into his hand and speed to get into space is second to none. However, our issue still remains the spine of our defense. TOM, Rob D and D Cahalane can not defend forwards running at them and non are strong enough at the edge of the square. Come the summer we will need to be scoring 1-30 to be winning games.

Im not happy that Kingston has gone with some of the older panel today. Some of those are failed players and wont be much use come championship.

The game today against Waterford will show where cork are. I'm looking forward to have hurling on a Sunday on tg4.

2 goals in first couple of minutes for Cork, that will do nicely.

Goal for Lehane and Kingston inside 4 min

Well now we've let em right back in to the game

Very open game. Poor enough goalkeeper positioning I think for their goal. Waterford up a point 1-07 v 2-03 nearly 20 gone.

Think Nash is having a shocker. Shane Kingston is like a man possessed, looks like he’s going to score a goal everytime he has the ball.

    Kingston doing very well

Good thing Waterford missing some long range shots

No pressure on them at times

Our shooting has been poor too

Not a bad game, Waerford up by a point at ht 1-13 v 2-08. Faults can easily be found on both sides. But its January.
Puckout are short and keep possession or long and lose it more often than not. Their last point a case in point.

Nash had Cork players free though and over hit it straight to a Waterford man

I've said it before and I'll say it again, he really does sometimes give the impression that he is colourblind.

I have missed the first half and only watching the second half now.

3 cork men and 1 waterford man in our defence and he gets the ball and puts it over.

Infuriating to watch. Not enough fight in the first few mins of this half from what I have seen.

    Shocking wide from Harnedy there

    Harnedy with another bad miss.

    Walsh off after 50.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,542 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Brain dead overcarry from Cahalane. He had the chance to let it go but ran with it.

Was level and now 2 points down again

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,542 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Nash with a great assist to a Waterford man

We are second to every ball.

Another puckout straight to a Waterford player, no Cork man even near him.

About 10 left and 3 down.

Lehane off now. Typical game from him, went missing, but did 1 or 2 good things.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,542 ✭✭✭The White Feather

By the looks of this match nothing has changed.

Second to every ball and losing every battle all over the field.

Cahalane doing the same stupid stuff as always. No one fighting for things especially in the forwards. If it doesn't get in their hand first time they seem to give up

    Kingston a shining light.
Playing Hoggie on the 40 for most of the second half was a strange decision.
Plenty of players making the same mistakes as last year.
Puckouts cost us a few scores.
    We lost by a point.

It’s only January and Waterford clearly had a lot more work done. Kingston’s best performance in a senior shirt. Wouldn’t read anything in to it only that it’s a step in the preparation work for the real stuff.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,023 ✭✭✭Speakerboxx

More of the same for 2020. Kingston isnt the man and the players aren't good enough. Typical.

Lehane should get dropped for good off panel. The most overrated player for Cork over the years. Useless when we need him.

I expect Cork to come back with one good performance and a win that will paper over the cracks but we be caught again when it matters. The story of Cork hurling like the 2010s.

In fairness it is only January, but it’s the same failed tactics today as has been for last 13 years or so

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,039 ✭✭✭KrustyUCC

I hate this part of the performance yesterday

"As Kingston’s predecessor John Meyler reminded us more than once during his two-year tenure, Cork are a different animal when the clocks go forward. However, work-rate translates to any season and here it was lacking as it was in the recent Munster League final defeat to Limerick.

Worrying? Not at this time of year but this is not something we haven’t seen before."

Of course that's very worrying as it's the same crap as years gone by

You can't just turn effort on and off

How is that the players are allowed get away with being outworked by their opposition time after time?

You would have thought that is something that Kingston would have demanded esp after the Limerick debacle
