Great win for the ladies in Croker, holding on for a tight win on a scoreline of 0-08 v 1-04, goal coming from a penalty.
Think Glanmire girl Abbie O'Mahony make her debut aswell, captained Cork minors to All Ireland success last year.

Cork 0-8 Down 0-2 HT. Cork against the wind in the 2nd half

Great win. Promotion is almost certain.

Great win. Promotion is almost certain.

It would be a major worry for Cork football if anything less than promotion was considered in division 3.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,599 ✭✭✭eigrod

What, if anything, would promotion to Div 2 mean for Cork in this year’s Championship and the two tier system? I find it all very confusing.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,121 ✭✭✭zetecescort

need to win promotion or reach the Munster final (think we have Kerry in the semi final) to compete for Sam.

Sound,so basically all Div 1 and 2 teams at the end of this league and/or provincial finalists go in to the Sam Maguire?

It's division 3, you expect them to go undefeated

Frightning as to how we'll go about paying it back but the over run has been well flagged in fairness.

Ucc a goal down at ht in the Fitzgibbon final v Carlow on tg4's youTube channel.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,121 ✭✭✭zetecescort

UCC unfortunately playing like most Cork teams, too much fooling around with the ball with 5 or 10 yard passes putting the next man under pressure and their forwards are unable to win any ball

6 down during the second half.
3 down with 10 to go and down to 14.
UCC came back with a Sterling performance to win by a point 0-18 v 2-11
Kerryman Conway man of the match, beautiful striker of a dead ball.
Darragh Fitzgibbon with 2 good points came into it in the second half.
Kingston was great throughout -despite playing in a 2 man full foward line against 3 defenders.

Fantastic win. 40 times in total now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,121 ✭✭✭zetecescort

Well, I got that wrong anyway. Congrats to UCC, great to dig it out after going down to 14

has any Cork club or even members of Cork management ever approached Shane Conway about a possible transfer....? himself and Kingston seem to have a good relationship on the field.... he would surely enhance Corks all ireland prospects...

I would hope not to be honest. Imagine the shoe on the other foot - Cork produce the next Colm Cooper and the Kerry management come knocking saying "yerra, you'll never win anything with Cork". At the end of the day he's a proud Kerry man. In time he may find himself based in a stronger hurling county, maybe even on Leeside, and might choose to transfer.

Can’t ever see that happening. He is ferociously loyal to his club in Lixnaw in North Kerry where the rivalry is massive among the hurling clubs.

He is definitely in the Top 5 under 23 hurlers in Ireland. So elusive, seems to be impossible to mark.

You will never see a Kerry player transfer to Cork as you couldn't justify it in terms of travel and the player would get a lot of slack. Different if going to a Leinster coounty, people would understand its a hard ask to commutre for training etc.
Darragh O'Connell transferred to Cuala and Dublin as he's teaching up there and it was accepted as it would have been difficult for him to commit to Kerry. Different story if you're only an hour away

23 point win last year? They'll hardly top that with the weather

Harty final called off, right decision. Replay date could be a problem as lads have holidays booked. Both go through to All Ireland series apparently

A shambles .... after a pitch inspection at 9am declaring it playable...a terrible forecast all week and then call it off with 45 mins before throw in.

Harty final fixed for the 29th in Mallow at 1pm

Hope they make a decision early on Cork game going ahead or not, it’s over 3 hours for me to Mullingar so will be hitting the road early but pointless if it won’t be played
