I suppose that post was in drafts for a few weeks?

Cork arent good enough. Stop trying to defend the undefendable. Kingston isn't the man to manage the Cork team and good few in the team not up to intercounty standard. We are becoming the whipping boys of Munster now.

Ah Coleman was superb but we just lack physicality . Thought we would pull away with 10 mins to go but Tipp in fairness hung in there and were marginally better team .Thank god for the footballers ..

We certainly lack a bit of physicality, have done for years and these conditions don't aid the lighter teams. Tipp will be very glad to win today and I'm sure they will perform better again the next day as a result.

Ran out of juice in the last 10. 2 wides were very narrow misses in close succession. They would have kept us in it when Tip scored their goal a few minutes later.
A real pity as this game was there for the taking against the current All Ireland Champions.

Out of juice? Lehane just on and takes a hopeless over the shoulder that drops into Hogan who sets up the lead point ; playing catch-up after that

There's a complete lack of bottle in that team. Haven't got good enough forwards either. Very disappointed.

Lehane should not be in the squad at this stage. Mr. Incinsistency.

It really does. Conditions actually improved in the second half and the wind died down somewhat. Third week in a row didnt help the last in the last 10. They did look a step behind in the closing stages. A goal then would have given them the lift instead Tip got the goal and ran out winners.
I wouldn't be overly critical if Cork on today's display. Very good first half against awful conditions. Some good performances but in these type of conditions, we normally dont do well. Today was no different.

Yes I thought it was razor thin in the difference in the teams. Really evenly matched but it hinged on a few things.

    1. The ref gave us no help at all . Thats obvious. He was worth at least 3 points to Tipp.
    2. Dalton going off made us lose our physicality up front. Tipp then began to boss their defence and that gave them a foothold when they were wobbling. He was causing havoc. Even got a free when he lost his hurley!
    3. Fellas on the bench have to come in and make an impact. Lehane is great but he hit a really poor shot that fell short and then led to a Tipp point. Then he disappears as if his confidence is gone. Fitzgibbon in his cameo showed that he was a big loss as well as Alan Cadogan.

All in all I loved our battling and work rate though we should be like that every game.

    Lastly, congrats to Tipperary!!!

    Major clearout needed.

Nash has been a good servant but it's time to go. He should have done better with the first goal and gave away a point seconds later. Cahalane & O'Donoghue, my god, they may may be good athletes but they haven't the hurling for this level. Both atrocious today. Spillane had a shocker too. Lehane needs to go. I see why he was brought on but he offered nothing again.

Ultimately though it was the management that cost us that win today. 2 points down at half time with a gale behind us. End up losing by 4. Dreadful stuff. Tippy tappy hurling in November when about a third of the team can't hurl is just nonsense.

It's harder to get off this Cork team than to get on it. Someone ruthless needs to be brought in and get rid of this boys club element that has crept in.

Nash should have gone 2 years ago. Complete liability.

He will be there next year again. Mark my words and possibly the same team. We arent going to see an All Ireland in Cork for a very long time. Unbelievable. Gutless team and incompetent management is costing us. We definitely need someone outside of the county to manage our shambles that has become of a team since the 2010s. Tipp there for the taking today and they bottled it.

Are Cork people over valuing this Cork team and Cork hurling in general? Coleman is a lovely hurler but why not have him midfield or centre back and control a game or mark a man from there? They produce a common forward fast with good wrists but it's a few Niall McCarthys /Alan Brownes they need..

Look at Kilkenny they have just beaten a far superior team to them. Cork players really need to take a good look at themselves. Pathetic

Damien Cahalane has more lives than a litter of kittens, how is still on the panel let alone the starting team.

Personally I'd love to see him back playing football. He hasn't the hurling guile for county level but he has the athleticism and aggressiveness for football. Think he would be a very useful half back for the football team

Agree on Cahalane, would be a great athlete for the footballers.

As a non-corkonion and neutral you would have to wonder what is going on down Lee side.....

Could a ‘non-cork’ native managing the squad be the answer......or is cork gaa too ‘proud’ to allow this to occur....?

Seems to be a lack of ‘raw material’ coming through.....are the cork children these days too fond of their x-boxes etc etc....any cork hurler under 20 will not have any memory of an all Ireland win......are too many cork kids turning to other codes......also on the club scene the once feared and dominant clubs such as St Finbars/Blackrock/Glen rovers etc haven’t won a club all Ireland in decades Newtown shandrum id guess is the last one back in ‘05/06 prior to that it is probably Middleton from the mid to late 80‘s.......3 all Ireland’s in 30 years just doesn’t seem right for a county like cork.....

4 All Irelands won since 1990. Lost 4 All Irelands. 1992 2003 2006 and 2013. Arguably could have won 2003 and first game of the 2013 replay. Long time before Cork wins one again i am sorry to say. Ruderless management big mistake bringing back Kingston, he got his chance before and didn't do anything then. Gutless players in the panel too. Lehane should never be left near a Cork panel again, hes so disappointing and offers nothing but frustration to the setup. Bleak future for Cork hurling.

He'd be a worse disaster for the footballers. He'd give at least 3 hospital handpasses a game . < Mod edit >. He doesn't have the nous to play top level. The guy in the other corner is a calamity waiting to happen aswell.

Ladies footballers look to get to another semi final with a win today.
All going well they should win somewhat comfortably.

as a hurling supporter i would love to see conor lehane throw off the shackles or whatever it is that is holding him back from displaying his talents in full.... he is some talent and has more ability than 99% of the intercounty hurlers out there.. he should be doing for cork what tony kelly is doing for clare.. tis a real shame tbh.. a real shame.. can anyone put a finger on it???

Lehane and Kelly are very alike. But you could argue that likewise, TK underperformed for Clare over the last few years. Now hes playing his best hurling ever and nobody knows exactly what had changed only that hes being played closer to goal at times. It is this player management or the individual? Not sure.

I'm confident its the player. He burst onto the county scene, knocking over points over his shoulder from the touchline with apparent ease

But when was the last time he played a good game? Not a great one, simply a good one. He really goes missing for long periods of a game, he has in essence become ineffective. He has amazing ability, but he has literally gone off the boil altogether. I'd drop him from the panel.
If he wants back it should be clear from his club hurling.

    Cork ladies 3-02 v 1-00 up after 10 minutes.

This is going to be an avalanche ft score I think.

    Cavan with 2 goals, 3-3 to 2-1

    3-04 v 2-02 at ht

Some wayward shooting and a bit of a Cavan comeback keeps it closer than it should be at ht.

Breaking through the Cavan defence is hard but the forwards are certainly putting the effort in.
Erica O'Shea is outstanding as are the O'Sullivan sisters.
Orla Finn is again covering every blade of grass but I sometimes feel she uses up so much energy in doing that, that it can hamper her shooting, especially in the last 10-15.

The grass on that pitch looks fairly long.

Only watching it for five minutes and Quinn going on about Cork winning it, it isn't a blow out yet

Saoirse Noonan with her customary goal, a rocket! What a week she's had!

Scoreline at ht did not show the difference between the teams.

Cavan playing as well as they can but there is a gulf between them.

Finn with a mis hit free goals. 5-06 v 2-03

As expected, Cork pull away to win 7-09 v 2-06

It would have been closer had Cork not put in huge effort from the beginning. They did not take the game lightly. Which is just as well as Cavan played as well as they could have.

Galway in the semi it is.

Edit Galway Blessed at the end not to lose !!
