Another disappointing year for Cork hurling, and truth be told if it wasn't for the wides, then Tipp would have been even more comfortable winners. I think we need to focus, on blooding new players into the panel in 2021. We are still using a lot of the same core of players, since 2014 and unfortunately come the business end of the championship, they have constantly been found wanting over and over again.

The unfortunate facts are that, it's 15 years since our last senior all Ireland, 22 years since our last u21 all Ireland, 19 years since our last minor all Ireland, and 22 years again since we last won the league. As they say, there's lies damned lies and statistics. And the stats show that Cork hurling has lost the winning habbit. We have forgotten how to win. But sure it is what is, hopefully the tide will turn our way again, sooner rather than later. Anyway thank god for the footballers. Will our next senior all Ireland win, be in the football i wonder?

As an outsider looking in, Cork underage has been poor for many a year. No titles at colleges and minor level in a long time. Cork were slow to embrace academies/squads up to about 6 years ago. The fruits of finally getting these going is starting to pay off with successful under 14, 16 etc. And a very promising minor team which unfortunately for Cork didn't get a chance to perform due to covid.

Ironically one of the biggest critics of Cork County Board over the last 15 years has been handed this very promising bunch of players after they've been nurtured by squad coaches.

Cork would appear to be turning the corner at underage level thanks to these squads/coaches. Success at senior level ought to follow in the coming years.

Well a county like Cork should be aspiring for frequent success in both codes. We have the underage all Irelands won, now we need to drive it on and win a senior one.Dublins dominance has to and will end at some point.

The hurling loss is still annoying to me as we were so close. I maintain the ref cost us the game but its over now. We missed a chance to go 2 up at a vital time though so that's on us. Yes they had bad wides too but I only look at ourselves. Nothing we can do about them scoring or missing or the ref.

Dalton going off really tipped the game in their favour. The few small things really made a difference added up.

If you look at our defence that started the game, there were 6 that started and only Rob Downey played mainly in defence for his club this year. Spillane and O'Mahony played half-forward and O'Donoghue, Coleman and Cahalane played midfield. I think I am correct in this but open to correction.

This seems really strange to me. I wasn't in favour of going back to Kingston in the first place so I feared the worst. I think we need a fresh approach now.

That's fairly depressing. Funny enough I was at every single one of those wins including Minor in 2001.

Cork hurling never looked in as good shape as it did then to kick on.

Been hearing about players coming through for last 8 or 9 years but we are still waiting to have a team that is good enough to win a All Ireland

Powter out for tomorrow. A real pity as he brings so much to the team.

Mark Keane is a sub and its worth noting Cathail O'Mahony has been added to the bench as well. Interesting to see if he gets on as I think he is some talent.

Kevin Flahive dropped or injured I wonder?

Thought he had a very good game against Kerry.

He has been dropped as far as I know. He isn't even a sub

Very strange decision, thought he was very decent against Kerry.

    Typical Cork management

How is it typical? Do you know what went on?

Do something ridiculous like dropping good players.

I think he's one of the weaker players. Constant fouls. Can't believe he wasn't sent off vs Kerry tbh.

While adding the likes of Cathail O'Mahony.

Typical, adding good players to the squad.

I couldn’t disagree more tbh, he got the better over Tony Brosnan throughout the Kerry game.. I know when Killian Spillane came on it was a different matter but no shame in that.

He should have been sent off. Constant fouling in the first half. Not surprised in the slightest he's not in the squad.

Of course nothing about the interception he made as Kerry broke on goal in the last minute of normal time.

I think your being ridiculously harsh.

Munster Football Final in a couple of hours!

It would be fantastic and a well earned medal for the footballers to lift a trophy today.

Shocking start, their forwards getting way too much space

I think we are in big trouble. Letting this game pass us by.

Forwards not giving us much at all right now.

We seem to be very laboured in everything

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,109 ✭✭✭zetecescort

Inexparienced defence showing a bit, second to alot of ball

    Yes big trouble now.

Everything way too laboured. Lot of fellas strolling about and sloppy all over.

Changes needed now at half time.
