So Ronan McCarthys 3 year term is up and I presume they won’t be giving him an extension.

Who do we think is in the running? I would love for them to go outside the county and start completely on a new slate - new ideas, no agendas.

Dont worry as we speak 3 kids have been born in cork. They will be the next Christy Ring and Larry Tompkins.

They wont even have to train. The fact they are from Cork will be enough.

I presume that you’re trawling the villages of Kildare for the next Larry Tompkins. You might find a Shay Fahy while you’re at it.

Even more embarrassing than today is that the new Cork County Board have decided to put a new levy on all Clubs next year

There was a time you'd be proud to tell people you had a family member playing for either the Cork senior football or hurling team. These days you'd say nowt as you'd be ashamed..

and who else should pay for the stadium only the GAA membership? Taxpayers have given enough.

Chickens coming home to roost for the clubs. They were the ones voting on board appointments, they were the ones who failed to hold the board to account

Ashamed of Cork football. Useless is an understatement. Congrats to Tipp but Cork never fail to amaze us and always never deliver when you expect them. Can't fault Tipp they were away better, our Cork team has no excuse. Cork GAA is a joke these times.

I think it's got nothing to do with the stadium.
It's for the day to day running of Cork Gaa.

Clubs are struggling enough trying to get people to pay for club membership & club lottery etc.
Expecting small rural junior clubs to fork out €5,000 in Covid times is crazy.

It would take some creative accounting for the stadium debt not to affect the day to day business

I thinks that article is incorrect and it’s actually 55 tickets for junior A clubs based on what the county have distributed. 55 tickets to break even whereas in previous years, you’d have netted €2.5K from the same sales. I genuinely think there will be numerous clubs unable to make the payments if they go ahead as is. I think they’d want to relook at the targets that are set with some consideration for population.

We obviously don't. Take off the shades for heavens sake. Cork football is a pity always has been.
Thats not true. They contested finals in 87, 88, 89, 90. Winning two All Irelands. Another All Ireland in 2010. From 87 to 95 where were Kerry? Cork definetely havent got the return though that appearances in semi finals and finals should have given them going back as far as the 74 semi Dublin. We have turned out great footballers like Anthony Lynch who never reaped what they deserved. There can be a naivety that cost them games, the drawn Munster final in Killarney a few years ago comes to mind.
I cant help feel that Cork believed their own publicity after beating Kerry though.
Tipp have a good record underage in the last 10 years and a dedicated football section

I feel sorry in some ways for current county board officers. They’re cleaning up a mess left for them both on and off the pitch

We have won 7 All Irelands from 23 finals.

    Not exactly prolific.

I think it's time for somebody new too.

Problem is who. Doubt a Kerry man will take it up.

But do think it badly needs a freshness

It's certainly going to hit small clubs disproportionately hard. My local club depends very much on this for fund raising so if all of the first 50 tickets go straight to the board then we're going to have to do more fund raising just to reach the same level. It shouldn't be a one size fits all thing it needs to be tailored better to suit catchment area, membership etc.

We have one of the worst records in finals. Cork football always has been a problem. Beat one good team and then next day out could lose to a junior c type team. They never fail to surprise us. Im sick of Cork GAA right now with alot of yes men with their own agendas and not for the good of Cork GAA. Shambles we are in both codes that's the reality and certain individuals fail to see that. We need someone new with no agendas and possibly outside the county.

Poor return by Cork football for the years Kerry went missing.

Flatter to deceive.. a line that sums up the Cork footballers for years.

I accept that. Beaten by Meath twice , Derry and Dublin.
Beaten in 91 by Kerry, 2 point defeat. Kerry then stumbled across the line against Limerick by 2 points after conceding 3 goals.

We need freshness in management and some of the panel.

All the best to him. Probably should retired a couple of years ago but I suppose it's a reflection on Cork football these last few year.

Been a good servant through the years, probably stayed on a few years too many though.

Didn't go half quick enough before 2020. Good player but tended to be a bit headless at times on the field of play. Best of luck with retirement.

Great start for Cork 1-03 v 0-00 after 10 minutes, Great to see Gemma back, scoring the goal.

Cork really benefitting from tougher games and have hit the ground running.

Kilkenny up by a point at ht.
Cork need to spread the ball quicker and not get bogged down in tussles of 4 or 5 players..

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,106 ✭✭✭zetecescort

Kilkenny 3 up at the water break

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 32,750 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

Kilkenny a goal up at the second water break.
    A few bad wides also
A big finish need for Cork.
