I think we have a better year ahead. Fully fit Spillane, Alan Cad, Darragh Fitz, hearnady and robbie o f will make us at least competitive. If Downey progresses and dominates halfback line and Hoggy has another great year I see a All Ireland semifinals.

Sure Cork hurling has it's problems, and i do agree with a lot of the points raised by PM O'Sullivan. He lets himself down though with his bitter and spiteful remarks, about the 2003-2006 Cork team. But sure what else would you expect from a Kilkenny man!

The downplaying of the 03-06 team is a bit desperate alright. They won some battles over those years against the best in the country. Also refers to the drawn 2013 final as one that should have been won but it would have been a bit of a snatch and grab from what I can remember. Hardly had the lead for any of that game.

Well going by that sort of blinkered thinking, you could argue that Kilkenny were lucky to win the 2003 all Ireland, beat an ordinary Limerick team in 2007, and a Waterford team past it's best in 2008. The last truly great Cork team was back in the 70's. That's also a slur, against the 1984 1986 and 1990 teams. Sadly he's bang on about us, being big game bottlers in recent years though. But it's up to the players to make people like him eat his words.

Attitude is our biggest problem. Regardless of the team picked we are going nowhere without matching the workrate and tackling of the top teams

WATChed the limerick v Tipp game today. RTÉ have a serious love fest with this limerick team. I think they should be blasted for their rugby style/northern football tactics. No doubt they have fabulous hard hurlers but the game was terrible to watch. The no advantage rule plays into their hands. Their forwards foul every time a defender runs at them. They slow the game and give their backs time to organize. Waterford andDavy got terrible stick and rightly so for negative sweeper. The only difference with limerick is their sweeper plays in the middle third of the field. Our beautiful fast paced game is turning into stop start and any contact is a free.

    Have to agree.
Last years all ireland we were on the receiving end of the same treatment.
Looking at the new rules i dont think they will have much impact.
Limerick do not seem interested in scoring a goal and seem quite talented in stopping the opposition getting in goal scoring positions

Great to see us going for goal instead of the handy point

Handy enough first half, lots of players dusting off the cobwebs. Some really strong defending by us.
I can see a red in the second half as there is a bit of bite at times.

    Cork 1-12 v 0-08 Waterford at ht.

great to see once it doesn't lead to anything stupid. sadly lacking from Cork teams for too long

Yes its only the first round of the league and its hard to know where Waterford are but its good display from us so far. Great to see us hunting in 2s and 3s for the ball and forcing turnovers

Red card did come for Waterford.

Cork have scored 5 goals with 4 mins to go.

The above is not a misprint

Ruthlessness is great to see. Handy points were on for a few of those goals but it was head down and going straight for it.

Very happy with that. We weren’t at our best and still won well. Great performance.

Hopefully we can start learning how to win now. I thought Shane Dowling was very in your face to Donal Og tonight on TSG.

I see on social media people are blaming Damian Cahalane for yesterday.... You couldn't make it up.

He is dodgy. Time will prove it again when facing better oppositions.

Donal Og gave him his answer in fairness

He sure did. You will find it hard to catch Donal Og out. Too experienced.

some great behind the scenes footage in this video of the All Ireland hurling weekend in 1999 including the train to Dublin, the Burlington hotel Saturday night and Sunday morning and on the pitch with the players as they await the presentation and then onto the celebrations. no sound for some parts of the video but well worth watching

Even if we win another All Ireland soon enough you won’t see scenes like that again..

    Great days.
