Need to cut out the Hail Mary shots from midfield and work the ball inside

Took the first quarter for Cork to get into the game but the defence got on top completely to go from 5 points a piece to being ahead at ht 13 v 7 O'brien doing the damage for Limerick

  • Registered Users Posts: 60 ✭✭dingle1969

    Cork 0-13 Limerick 0-7

Cork should be further ahead but they made some poor shot-taking decisions in the first quarter. They have been fairly dominant in the third quarter

  • Registered Users Posts: 60 ✭✭dingle1969

The Cork forwards have been playing great once they started to get decent ball. Jack Leahy has scored some great frees

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,547 ✭✭✭The White Feather

It is refreshing to see Cork players putting the hand up and winning or fighting for possession. Our minor and U20 teams are both doing this and its exactly what our seniors need.

Some really bad wides at the start but now we look in control and look like we might get goals too.

Another thing, what is it with the refs at minor and U20? Giving out cards like confetti and I mean both sides. They are frees yes but I am not sure about all these cards. Maybe I am old school!!

Some very good players to watch so bring on the second half now!

    Cork 0-16 Limerick 0-9

Jack Leahy giving an exhibition, from play and from frees.

  • Registered Users Posts: 60 ✭✭dingle1969

    Cork 0-20 Limerick 0-12

Neither team dominated the third quarter though Cork began to get the upper hand for the last few minutes. Jack Leahy playing great stuff, he's being marked by about three Limerick lads at this stage

    Goal for Cork.

Super interception by the Cork Goalie to save a goal. Straight up the pitch and, who else but Jack Leahy scores a goal

1-20 v 0-13 with 10 to go, pulling away nicely.

  • Registered Users Posts: 60 ✭✭dingle1969

Hard to see Limerick come back from 10 points down with only ten minutes left

Second yellow for the Cork No 7. Harsh enough call

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,547 ✭✭✭The White Feather

No ref got it wrong but at least he fixed it. Some amount of yellows given in this game as I said earlier. So many he forgot who he gave him to!

Limerick score what should be a consolation goal from a 65

Cork 1-24 Limerick 1-14. Into injury time

    Ft Cork 1-24 v Limerick 1-14

Once the defence settled, they pulled away to win well in the end.

They are one of best Cork minor teams I have seen. Big, strong, athletic and plenty of skill. Subs are capable too. They will take some beating.

Cork 1-24 Limerick 1-14 Full time

  • Registered Users Posts: 60 ✭✭dingle1969

After a nervous first quarter, Cork was the dominant team throughout. A strong, well-balanced team, hopefully, they go all the way now. Jack Leahy looks like a real prosepect

Delighted with that performance. Have a relative on the team so was hoping they might deliver.

Waterford had impressive win in other semi won't be easy final.

That team looks to have a good few players that are special. Jack Leahy got 1-14 which was Limericks total score in the end. Kevin Lyons and Ben O’Connor were very good at the back. Tadhg O'Connell and Healy look very good too.

Great to see the battling spirit all over the team, everyone was working hard when we didn't have the sliothar.

The final against Waterford is on Monday, August 9th

Great result important to drive on with the U20 final to put some manners on the noisy neighbors

I am surprised a resignation wasn't announced, I don't mean it to disrespect any person's ability etc but cork football needs a fresh approach, time and respect has been given,no guarantee that the next manager will do better but a change of perspective is required, you have to try something else.

I would hope he will step down. But we could be stuck with him for 2 more years just as easily.

Cork 1-04 Limerick 0-08 at the first water break in the U-20 match.

Even enough so far. The Cork inside forwards look dangerous, Limerick playing with a strong breeze

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,122 ✭✭✭zetecescort

Should really take their points instead of going for goal all the time

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,547 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Ref is giving them some amount of frees

  • Registered Users Posts: 679 ✭✭✭webels

Ref is very fond of that whistle against both sides to be fair. Would he just let the game flow. Cork half forwards well able to win their own ball, great to see.

    Good game do far

  • Registered Users Posts: 679 ✭✭✭webels

Leading at half time have to be happy against a strong wind. Darragh Flynn is the new Hoggie

  • Registered Users Posts: 60 ✭✭dingle1969

    Cork 1-13 Limerick 0-14 at half-time

Too many frees are being given away. 8 of Limerick scores came from the placed ball. the Cork forwards look more dangerous. Should be more goals in that Cork full-forward line. Cork were beginning to motor in the last five minutes. Cork will have the strong wind in the second half which should help in getting ball into the forwards more quickly

Cork 1-21 Limerick 0-19 at the second water break.

Cork keep threatening to pull away, but Limerick staying in touch. Cork have missed a few goal chances
