Oh yeah, years of mistrust are telling me that this is far too good to be true and bound to be a cockup somewhere along the line.

Finbarr McCarthy reported this. He said the attendance will be 4,400 on Wednesday

Anyone think Cork cockiness could catch up with them in the final?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,122 ✭✭✭zetecescort

Confirmation of the U20 game a day later. Daire O Leary is out with a hamstring problem though

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,227 ✭✭✭big_drive

Not really because they're severe underdogs. I don't know anyone in Cork who fully expect them to win

It's more hoping everything falls right and be in with a chance, albeit an outside chance

Any idea how many Season Ticket holders Cork have?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,019 ✭✭✭lukin

I don't know but it would be a lot. That's why I don't think that they are giving every season ticket holder the chance to buy a ticket for the final. With a 50 percent reduction in capacity I don't see how they can do that. It's far more likely that they will only give it to those who have attended 60 percent of the matches in 2020. When the season ticket was in operation that was the percentage of matches you had to attend to qualify to buy a ticket for the final.

If they let every season ticket holder buy a ticket without looking at their attendance you could have people who attended no games in 2020 getting tickets for the final.

It's probably just people with the Club Plus Season Ticket? You were guaranteed a final ticket with the Club Plus irrespective of attendance

No it isn't. I don't have a Club Plus season ticket (I've never heard of it in fact), mine is the Inter County season ticket but I got the email.

I dont think so, they know they are up against it and this Limerick team are the best out there by a country mile. With Mellerick out and a few doubtful starters from the last day they know their work is cut out.

Cork are the best team to put it up to Limerick as they want a physical battle all day long and will win that hands down, Cork bring a different challenge to the table.

Waterford trying to bring the battle to Limerick and they stood up to Limerick for 20 mins but then had no answer to them when Limerick won the physical battle. Waterford were naive in that and was dissapointed by Cahills tactics as you need to run ball in hand at the Limerick half back line as they can be got at with speed. Waterford are a limited team but can Cork do better, they have a chance if they are cute enough not to go toe to toe with limerick.

Limerick will push up on the Cork puckout to stop them building the play like they did against Kilkenny, Corks puckouts have improved since the last meeting with Limerick. If their half backs push up to crowd midfield them this leaves a lot of space for Jack O connor are the other speedsters and this is a quandry for Limerick too. Its not all one way tactical traffic.

I would say the Cork cuteness and swagger is back but over confidence no.

Ciara O'Sullivan a big loss after 8 min.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,122 ✭✭✭zetecescort

Cork 0-4 Meath 0-4 HT. Cork the better team in the 1st half, kicked 4 or 5 poor enough wides.

1-03 in the first 10 minutes of the second half sees us in a good position to see this out.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,122 ✭✭✭zetecescort

Ffs. Surely a free out for charging before the penalty?

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 32,885 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

Strange way to finish. 2 goals conceeded in the last 90 seconds. A free at the end, before the buzzer, not allowed to be taken.

Well done Meath, a wake up call for Cork.

    Extra time to come.

Level at half time. Really struggling on our kickouts

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,599 ✭✭✭eigrod

He gave 3 frees against Cork for exactly that, but ignored it completely there. Cork’s kick out strategy is awful.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,259 ✭✭✭tanko

What was the Cork goalie thinking giving a short pass to a defender a few yards from her surrounded by Meath players, brainless stuff.

When are managers of ladies teams going to realize that the goalie is one of the most important positions on the field and stop putting one of their weakest players in there.

Cork have no one to blame but themselves for going to ET in the first place.

Credit to Meath, a fit team that are defensively orgainsed.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,599 ✭✭✭eigrod

This is a hard watch. I know they’re tired, but it’s not good.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,122 ✭✭✭zetecescort

Well done to Meath, better side in extra time.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,599 ✭✭✭eigrod

Fair play to Meath, they deserve it for being more economical when it mattered. Cork’s lateral play cost them.

Once Ciara O Sullivan was injured , the writing was on the wall for that Cork team.

They don't have enough players capable of taking a point from distance.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 32,885 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

Apart from getting into the position of being 6 points up with 90 seconds left.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,547 ✭✭✭The White Feather

I didn't see any of the ladies footballers today as I was working but I can't say I was surprised. They were woeful against Waterford. Being 2 goals up and giving them away sounds criminal. Orla Finn was probably a big loss too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,023 ✭✭✭Speakerboxx

So guys is there any talk of Ronan McCarthy getting the sack from the Cork football job? He's bloody useless and if they are going to continue with him again, well then don't expect any progress to be made with Cork football next year. He has outlived his welcome as Cork football manager. He's been a disgrace along with Cian O Neill.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 32,885 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

Orla was a big loss, no doubt. They got themselves into a Clear winning position but shot themselves in the foot. I can't understand why with a lead like we had, you continue to go short from the kickout. Long ball out the wing, if you lose it, half your team are behind the ball. Crazy in fairness.

I very much doubt if we would have been good enough to take Dublin because, as you said, we weren't playing well all year. Makes for a novel final if nothing else.
