His puckouts are a massive asset I think? Some difference between his and Tuohys

The amount messed up vs the amount that actually worked is massive.

Up 1-8 to 0-4 half time. Be a massive win.

from cruising at 10 up to Tipp getting the next 5. Points from Connolly and Kerrigan steady it a bit, 7 up with 10 to go

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,122 ✭✭✭zetecescort

in good news, Brian Hurley has come on, bad news is that it was for an injured Colm O'Neill

First 10 mins awesome, second 10 not so much.
    Happy to be 0-09 v 1-03 up after 20

Harnefy with 4 from play, Lehane pretty non existent

    Up 1-15 v 1-06 at ht

1-12 from play is a super tally. Full foward line is buzzing, defence a yard quicker.

If they keep this going it coukd be a record defeat at home to Cork for tip.

Not sure how tip can get back into this as they are off the pace completely, blind balls being drilled into the fowards, full back line conceeding scores galore and Cork are playing very well.

    2-20 v 1-23 a draw

Cacking second half. Tip upped their game, we didnt score for nearly 20 minutes.
Nash with yet another worldie save. Cork still should have won, given their first half lead and they came back to take a 3 point lead again only to be pulled back again.
    Thoroughly enjoyable game.

    What a mental match!

Its easy to look at the 2nd half collapse but I would look at Cork coming back and nudging in front when everything was going against us.

Gave away simple scores right at the start of the 2nd half which gave tipp momentum. Its like Cork started the 2nd half the way they usually start the first half of matches. Slow and giving away scores.

Still think it was a good performance from Cork and we will learn from it. The main thing is that we came back when Tipp were all over us. That is what gives me a lot of happiness. Easy to buckle and say we were just overwhelmed in the 2nd half but no, we came back again.

It just needed a few more scores especially at crucial times. A few wides there that should have been put over.Still don't think Lehane is fully fit which is why he was quiet today.Nash was brilliant.

All in all, We look in a very good place. Coming back against their waves of attacks was a very good sign.

Given I'm a Tipp man, it might not come as a huge surprise that I disagree on this. Bar Nash Tipp would have had it, a goal from O Dwyer would have put the game beyond Cork. That, and the save from Maher in the first half Tipp would have had 2 more goals.

Having said that, I'll definitely take a draw given what I saw in the 1st half from Tipp

Are we guaranteed at least third place if we get five points?

True, but you have to look at everything, not just Nash. Our defenders were great today but let ye in for a few scores as a result of poor mistakes, especially not being able to pick the ball a few times that lead to the point at the end. Hoggie also missed 2 frees that he really never misses. Considering our first half performance and the fact we got ourselves back into a 3 point lead, I think we should be disappointed in not winning that game.

Very disappointed -that last Tipperary point was basically an advert for teaching young players that you should have two hands on the hurley when picking the ball up! Cork had it covered but after three attempts the defender couldn't pick it up, broke and it was slotted over the bar. That would be very frustrating for any manager that it was a gift of point to equalise

True, but equally look at one of the points got near the end of the game to go 3 up came from Ronan Maher taking his eye off of a handpass. Simple but costly mistake. You could equally make the same statement about Tipp handing Cork scores from letting Cork players catch the puckout unopposed in acres of space, or not being able to stop Shane Kingston despite having multiple players around him. I think we will have to agree to disagree on this :D

Cannot understand Minor mgt. they are in trouble in de back line. Playing PaddyO Flynn full forward and he played Center Back for his club last year winning U-16 & Minor County titles. Outstanding reader of de game & great hand. Mind baffling.

I know it's probably an unpopular opinion but I think Nash is a liability. His puckouts were awful, and for the second goal he should've went down, instead they went through his legs.

I honestly didn't know whether to laugh or cry when I read this....

I didn't see the minor game at all but that's 2 weeks in a row where we have conceded 3 goals in the first half. Something clearly needs to be fixed in that department

And who were you going to replace him with for today if you were team manager.
If there's ever been a better all round keeper in the game I've never seen him.
As a Limerickman we will always rue the day his father set up home in Kanturk having moved from South Liberties...:(

Well we gave you Paul O'Connell.

I done both !!! probably the best keeper in the country, reads the game well, great shot stopper, most of his puck outs are good. unlucky not to get all-star last year !

The full back line is an absolute disaster, never going to go places shipping that amount of goals.. we we're lucky too against Clare.

Anyone know where I can get a Cork GAA book for children? Saw it previously at a library but can't find it anywhere online. It was a storybook where all the characters were in cork jerseys, and a story about a match. Book for 2/3 year olds.
