I hope for or should i say i expect a big performance from Cork tomorrow. We've only had two championship wins over Tipp in 2010 and 2017, since we beat them in the 2006 Munster final. So they firmly have the upper hand on us over the past 16 years. We have to back up that great win over Waterford, by beating Tipp tomorrow and keeping our season alive.

Was going through the fathers things and found these. Before my time but there was something to be said for knockout championship too.

If ye don't beat a shadow of a tipp team.where 10 good players are missing..ye have no business of being in the championship..its in yer own hands..

Not a good start at all!!

That's a Savage win. No harm to beat them. We have struggled for years to beat them.

Consideing the start we had, we absolutely blew them away, great win.

Well done Cork. Didn't think ye would make it out of munster but ye sure did and fancy ye to make an all ireland semi now.

Well done to team and management..responded really well in last two games when pressure came on.

Great to see Jack O Connor and Tim O Mahony contribute off the bench as well.

Lehane untouchable in the first half. Can't wait to get home and watch Connolly's goal again. We didn't play half enough ball into him. Tipp very poor though. Hopefully we get into a quarter and drive it on. Rebels abu

That was one of best performances I have seen from Cork in long time. When we needed it too. I was one of the real negative posters here after Clare game but delighted to have been proven wrong.

Well done to players for not only last week but backing it up this week when really mattered.

Credit to all. Summer not over.

great to win and better to win well but Tipp were poor. after the first 10 or 15 min the game turned how we like it, fast and loose. Great effort from our lads last week and this but you'd read little into todays result imo.

I couldn't care less about how bad Tipp are supposed to be. We went to Thurles and hammered the living daylights out of the old enemy! Outside of Limerick i don't fear any team, so we'll see how we go. We looked dead and buried after that Clare game, so all credit to Kieran Kingston and the players for turning things around. I'd take still being in the championship right now, over winning a league title any day.

Not sure I'd say we could read little into this game.

We were 5 or 6 points down early on. Whatever limitations Tip had, it was still upto us to show them and use them to the best of our abilities. We have often not been able to do that, today we absolutley did it. Similar to last weekend, we did exactly what we had to do, fairly impressively on both counts.

I thought we would win today. Even at 5 down, I thought we would win. You don't become a bad team overnight. There are a lot of positives again today and we are still in it and I'm confident whoever we play next - won't relish it one bit.

not bragging but now that clare toped the group do ye look at that performance against us differently

the hurling ye played in the second half was better then anything i have seen in years bar limerick , Connelly is a fantastic hurler who really makes the ball stick up front , but the work rate in the middle 3rd that day in the second half was excellent Joyce was fantastic also

thats the same level of fight cork showed in the all Ireland semi last year , fact is we are not kilkenny which has overlooked that performance in thurles

We had some epic clashes with Tipp, in those years from 1987 to 1991. 1991 definitely was an all Ireland we could have won. We had enough chances to beat Tipp in that years drawn Munster final, and we were winning the replay by nine points at one stage.

this film was such a great draft of cork hurling in the late 80s and early 90s its a serious film and maybe highlights the disconnect that exists between the modern young player and supporter

The footballers have drawn Louth at home in the qualifiers. You'd have to be happy enough with that. Thank god we avoided Tyrone and Mayo.

    Very happy with that.

dodged the big names drawing Louth but no doubt they are happy drawing us too. no Mickey Harte team is easy beaten. need our injuries to start clearing up a bit to be any way confident

A player who has really blown hot and cold for Cork over the years - deserved.

Oh right you're from Waterford.😁 Tradition is a factor in how a county performs. Tradition or lack of has a lot to do, with why Waterford haven't won a senior hurling all Ireland in 63 years imo. Ye without a doubt, have replaced Limerick as the most dysfunctional hurling county in Ireland imo.

Interesting graphic I found on twitter. Effective tackles mean possession turned over and ineffective means possession doesn't change. It shows the work rate of Connolly in particular. He has a great brain and reads things well and of course can get goals! Though it shows he fouls but at least he is harassing any defender coming out with the ball. Harnedy too does a lot of work. I would expect Horgan to be where he is tbh which makes sense making a switch later in the game.

I would presume Kingston and crew are looking at these kind of stats too

Waterford are the Mayo of hurling and I hate saying it.

The Cork ladies are playing Kerry in Killarney on Saturday at 12.15 and the Cork Camogie players are playing in PUR on Saturday at 5 pm.

This creates a clash for our dual players. Why is this still happening? I thought they sorted this out and it wouldn't happen again.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,542 ✭✭✭The White Feather

I see now the Camogie game has been switched to 6pm which gives extra time for the dual players

  • Registered Users Posts: 585 ✭✭✭Corcaigh84

The father loves to remind me '87 was the year JBM retired and he never lost a Championship match vs Tipp in his entire career. We'd have kept their famine going longer if Tony Sull's legitimate goal in Killarney wasn't ruled out for a square ball!

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,657 ✭✭✭✭callaway92

So according to this person, unless you turn a player over and end up with your team having possession, your tackle is ineffective?

On the subject of Waterford, the Sultan has gone awful quiet. We haven't heard anything at all from him, since we turned the tables on Waterford a few weeks ago.😁 As Johnny Logan would say what's another year?😁
