Surely Limerick's funniest achievement is to have Tipperary and Cork wishing each other well.... lol😂

You don't. I said that in reply to a comment that "a draw would be good enough for Cork". My point being that it's irrelevant that a draw would be good enough for Cork.

I don't believe we will beat Limerick but I am only hoping we are totally written off and play out of our skins and are on the right side of the score board this time.

We have got a few trimmings by Limerick last two seasons we really need to get one back and win and be the team to knock them out of championship. I expect Cork to turn up and challenge, Will it be good enough to win? I'm not convinced but hope I get it wrong.

I see no reason why ye can't beat them, but every Cork man woman and child needs to get to Limerick and support them!

I like the changes. We need a big game from everyone to get something out of this game.

  • Registered Users Posts: 585 ✭✭✭Corcaigh84

Agreed. We need to start hot, and not have our usual mid game slump where we let the opposition rack up a massive lead. Massive work needs to be done to get the ball into our FF line, which is fairly slow, bar Kinston (who ALSO needs a huge 70+ mins).

Collins needs to start laser beaming his restarts - I can't believe he's our number 1 with the amount of ball he just lamps out over the sideline every match. Bookies have Limerick hot favourites, rightly so. This reminds me of '13 v KK in Thurles - going in hope rather than expectation. We owe them one, Rebels abu.

Best of luck from Tipp, hope ye sort out the noisy neighbours for us!

Before the Championship started, I had this game written off but now after seeing Limerick and us, I think we have a great chance. Not that they are bad at all but they arent near where they usually are.

Great to see Pat Ryan agree with me in his after game analysis too of the Clare game 🤣 He said the restarts killed us where we went to sleep but it was still a very close game. If Harnedys just wide shot went in, we could have won the game. A true game of inches!

I'm glad Conor Cahalane was dropped as he was very poor the last day. Normally a very good player and he still can come on as sub to play well against Limerick but when he went through on goal, we had an overlap and he delayed the pass and ended up not even getting a point. This was very awful stuff. At least take the point! Lehane was virtually anonymous as well. Same as Cahalane, they are the types to come on as sub and be on fire. Lehane usually has one bad game then a good game so hopefully he is due this game. Sometimes being a sub can make a fella have the drive to show what he can do when he comes on. Totally different but when I played, I was very like this! Always played better as a sub as I felt I should be playing from the start ! Talking to the manager years later and he said he did this on purpose to get the best out of me!

We quieted the crowd early on with our good start against Clare so we need something similar against Limerick. There is pressure on both tams obviously but with Limerick being at home and Champions, there is more on them. They are bound to get edgy if we can keep the pressure on. Champs goin out early....!

We can't afford these periods where we don't score for 15-20 mins though. It will be an almighty battle and we need to be firing on all cylinders. If we can stay with them until near the end is the key. We seem to be finishing games strong which is another good attribute but we give up very easy points. Points where they seem like presents they are so bad. The odds are all with Limerick being at home but I think it will be close and could very well be another draw. Hopefully we could get the winning point this time out!

Killeagh GAA running a gofundme page for the Walsh family. I know some were asking about the tragic events when our minors were playing. Have a read of the page and donate what you can.

It was at 90k when I checked a few days ago, upto 160k now. It has spread a lot on the media recently and I fully expect it to double over the next couple of weeks.

    Cork 1-19 v 1-17 Louth

A different team with Hurley playing.

Delighted to get the win away from home, pressure off now!!

I didn't have much faith especially playing away but that is a good turnaround from only getting 10 points in the league previously against them!

  • Registered Users Posts: 34,144 ✭✭✭✭The_Kew_Tour

I admire the optimistic post and players hopefully believe.

Personally I think we do well to get within 5 points of them. I be stunned if we win.

Hope I'm eating my words tomorrow but last Sunday proved we have lot to learn even.

Technically wasn’t an away match (was neutral)

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,121 ✭✭✭zetecescort

think it was an away match, Louth nominated Navan as their home ground

Obviously the focus is on the hurlers today but the Ladies footballers are playing Kerry in the Munster final. Awful having it on the same day as the hurlers but that's the way it is.

It will be live and only on Clubber. Throw in is at 3.30

Cork shooting themselves in the foot.

  • Registered Users Posts: 585 ✭✭✭Corcaigh84

Everything bounces off Kinston, he's a liability. Lim second goal came from his inability to win his own ball

  • Registered Users Posts: 154 ✭✭magic17

Once again we are our own worst enemy. We were flying at times in that half and should be 4 or 5 up only for poor skills, brutal decision making or defending.

Still all to play for but we'll need a couple of goals I feel as there's another 1 or 2 there for Limerick.

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,244 ✭✭✭✭namloc1980

Just like last week in Ennis, Cork are making way too many silly mistakes and basic skills are lacking at times. Can't win games playing like that.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,545 ✭✭✭Seadin

Cork will not win an All Ireland for a very long time I'm sorry to say.

  • Registered Users Posts: 962 ✭✭✭thefa

Bullshit penalty. Followed by missing a sitter. Made a difference in the end.

Weren’t clinical enough on the day. Few occasions with overlaps but only eyes for the post and happy to take points. Mistake in our own half. Lacking a bit of doggedness in midfield too I felt.

    Never gave up in fairness.

Beat ourselves. No excuse for not winning that.

christ almighty if that fella is in goal next year…

    Finishing 4th in Munster. Dreadful.

I thought that was a brave and gallant performance by Cork. We could and probably should have put Limerick away but we didn't. A soft Limerick penalty proved to be the difference between the teams in the end. The wait for Liam McCarthy to come back to Leeside will extend into it's 19th year sadly. I feel that tactically we're still a naive team, and until we smarten up on that front then we will always come up short when it comes to winning all Irelands.

We do seem to have the hurlers coming through, so hopefully our success at underage level transitions over to senior level sooner rather than later. I'm not sure if Hoggie or Seamus Harnedy will ever win that elusive all Ireland medal now though sadly. Oh well it's over to the footballers now. That was a great win they had over Louth in fairness.
