That didn't work too well on Sunday last when we had Coleman following Kelly

We were far better when Joyce went back to CB and Coleman to Wing Back

    Great win last night.

Far better side. Short term future looks bright

Its worth noting the state of the pitch last night. Lots of people, myself included, gave out when it was like a sand pit a few months ago. Last night it very well indeed.
Thurles is patchy as fúck in comparison.

Unusual to see Thurles like that. Even in a drought.
Methinks that that the fact Tipp are out of the championship could be playing a part in this. Less time spent on it's upkeep and condition.
    Just my thinking.;)

whereas all Gaa pitches around the country [apart from Croke Park] are brown and burnt looking, Parci Caoimh looked quite lush and healthy. Cork Gaa and ground staff must be doing something right.

a steward in Thurles last Sunday told me they were pouring 30,000 litres of water on the Semple stadium surface ever day last week.

Heard that alright, but they would need to at least treble that for a pitch of that size, and it needs to be done at the right time of day, ie very early morning or when the sun goes down (or at least gets weak)
Watering during strong sunshine can actually damage the grass, which could be the case here.

I'd imagine that the stand blocking the sun in the spring is now also blocking the sun in the heatwave

Unlikely, the angle is totally different in summer. Did not someone say previously here or elsewhere that cinder was what is under Semple Stadium and that is why it was such a good hurling pitch.

PuC has turned out amazingly well in so many ways and if they can do something to improve access on match day then I think it'll replace Thurles as the natural choice for other Munster counties to play in. Do we know where the qf are this year? I'd love to see them in PuC again.

always laugh when I see this, you'd swear everybody parked up beside Semple last weekend and that there were no traffic queues coming in off the motorway. every ground has issues but people have become desperate moaners and all want to park within 100 yards of the ground

Couldn't agree more. It's a bloody fine walk from where I park to the turnstile in Thurles. An equivalent walk would have me back in the city centre from the páirc. Then there is always a queue to get out to the motorway, no matter where you park.

That's the great thing about having a river outside the back wall of the stadium. PC Looked fantastic on TV.

    Could see it happen.

I fear that is exactly what Bob is trying

Does anyone actually think we have a chance in the football tomorrow?

Like to see Cork having a cut of Tyrone tomorrow. Cork have little to loose Tyrone still have hopes of greater things. We live in hope.

Game day lads, don’t get too excited!!!!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,549 ✭✭✭The White Feather

It's hard to get excited too much as it is really a lottery as to how Cork will perform. They can definitely play well but definitely can play badly too.

Just be great to bounce back with a good performance today. Hopefully they will.

White with two fine saves already

Tyrone just waltzing through the middle of our defence. Lucky not be a few goals down already after less than 15 mins

Thats not a good sign. Corner backs being destroyed so far.

Much better play from the forwards now

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,549 ✭✭✭The White Feather

We are doing better now as we are getting more players forward rather than just hitting it into Hurley and hoping he can beat everyone.

We are in this game at least now

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,549 ✭✭✭The White Feather

After all the hard work to get back in it , we are now 3 points down again

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,549 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Some shocking wides from Cork today

  • Registered Users Posts: 582 ✭✭✭CiarraiAbu2

Cork v mayo last year, there was a cork player who caused a lot of trouble by continously running at them, was it Luke Connelly, i cant remember.

  • Registered Users Posts: 135 ✭✭mortimer33

Are the Cork team really as bad as they have shown in the past 2 games? Defense is shocking at times. If it wansnt for missed chances this game should be well over by now.

The defence is brutal to be fair. Standing off far too much. They've obviously been told to do it because they're all doing it.
