Cork lost a semi final last year after a dubious sending off although admittedly the goals they conceded were amateurish defending. The two teams are equal enough with some classy hurlers. It will depends who can rise to the occasion and ignore the hype. I judt hope the All Ireland winner comes from this semi

Colm O'Neill has retired from Intercounty football. What a great scorer for Cork he was. Had horrible injuries and came back every time.

Great servant to Cork football. Sad to see him retire on medical grounds.

What a talent Colm is, kick scores off either foot and serious determination and courage to keep coming back after his injuries. Sad to see it end this way but few come back the same after one cruciate injury nevermind three.

Never a dirty stroke from him either. Was one best forwards we ever produced

Could and should have done a lot more but injuries absolutely ruined one of the brightest corner forwards of the last decade. Fantastic player when fit and healthy and a great lad off the pitch. Sad old times seeing the likes of Goulding, O Neill and Donnacha O Connor all retired. Next crop really haven't kicked on.

Is it only Aidan Walsh left of the 2010 squad?

    Think it is

    Yes forgot about Kerrigan

That Cork team from 2008-13 really should have won another AI

    2011 was a disgrace.

A comment that refers to a lot of Cork teams. 1973 winners lost to Dublin in the 74 semi final.
Rode out of the 1976 Munster Final.
87 and 88 lost to Meath.
Think of players like Anthony Lynch, Corkery Cleary, Ray Cummins, JBM definetely should. have more football medals

Ya that 73 team should have won more. We were robbed in 1988 too(by Kerry ref). Should have won in 1993 too.

7 All Irelands is poor return for our footballers

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,039 ✭✭✭KrustyUCC

Yes a very poor return really

Robbed by bloody Marty Duffy in 2009 as well

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,395 ✭✭✭Shedite27

At least they got one, always think when you compare Mayo of the past 8 years, with the Cork team of the time before that...
    Mayo (11-17), 7 semifinals in a row, 4 finals, 0 All-Ireland
    Cork (05-10), 6 semifinals in a row, 3 finals, 1 All-Ireland

Add in Cork's 3 leagues in a row, Mayo people would bite your hand off to have what Cork got.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,039 ✭✭✭KrustyUCC

Yeah sure Mayo are cursed apparently lol

Just to let people know, the Cork Ladies Football game against Monaghan will be live on TG4 this Saturday at 3pm. This is Round 2 of the Championship.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,549 ✭✭✭The White Feather

It's Cork 2-4 Monaghan 0-6 at half time.

Cork look very dangerous in attack. Ref has given a few strange frees to Monaghan

I fully expect Scally to be a handful for the second half.

Couple of goals in a few minutes, twice, some fowards!

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,549 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Saoirse Noonan is very good too. She came on and got 2 goals against Kerry.

She set up one and got another today. Game not over yet!

Goals flying in. 7 goals for Cork now. As I said earlier the Cork attack looks very good indeed!!

Ref is still doing odd things. I say it every time I see ladies football but he is over weight and doesn't keep up with play. Ladies deserve better.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,549 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Game well over but that's a ridiculous penalty decision by the ref. The standard of ref in the women's game is appalling.

Great win for Cork in the end.

    Cork 7-7 Monaghan 1-9

This team look to be as hungry as ever, awesome yet again.

Cork Camogie won against Offaly today. Sounds like another goal fest!

    Cork 6-18 Offaly 3-4

Will Cork win next weekend in the hurling or will Limerick have too much? momentum is with Limerick and they will fancy their chances against Cork. Corks failure to get out of this stage of the championship for the last few years must be on their minds. Pressure on Cork to deliver.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,549 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Cork will win. Whats your next question?! :pac:

I think Cork will have too much for them. We are looking really good and somehow people are underestimating us. Limerick are okay but we will be too strong for them. I think it will be a quite comfortable win at the end.

    Correct.
    Limerick will have too much.
    Limerick have the momentum.
Cork always fail at this stage.
    Mentally, Cork are broken.
The pressure on Cork will make them crack.
