Charleville a goal up but a man down after 42 min

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,547 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Charleville have had a man sent off and rightly so. Stupid from him

    1-12 to 13 now.

Charleville well and truly imploding, 2nd man off.

Didn't see anything in the second one. Game over now I think. Penalty scored for Oranmore

Oranmore goal from a penalty, 1-13 to 1-16 with 3 min left

Swung back with the butt of the hurl and hit a lad in the stomach, deliberate striking. Surprised no one from Oranmore got booked though.

    Charleville 1-15 Oranmore 2-18 FT

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,547 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Thanks Ompala I missed that somehow!

The first sending off changed the game as Charleville were well in control. Thought Oranmore could have had a guy sent off in the first half for a head high tackle but that Charleville player cost his team the game.

Kerry can do a clean sweep and Cork can't win anything. Cork GAA gone to the dogs.

not on her to pull the piss but last week ciaran whealan said on league sunday that it would be a tragedy if cork got relegated to division 3 , on todays performance i wondered what he would say if they got relegated to division 4 , the level of fitness is quite poor among the cork squad at the moment also there doesn't seem to be many options to management either coming off the bench which is another knock back at the county board and the lack of work with underage

the next 4 league games are huge for cork to avoid the drop , because the outcry that will follow if they dont stay up could set them back ever further , worrying times for cork , other then ian mcguire ruari deane and 2nd half sub paul walsh from kanturk there were very little positives to be found today

There'll be no outcry. Nobody cares.

Lack of underage work?? Cork have dominated Munster U21 for the last decade. :D

Indeed. The talent is there. Not to compete consistently with Dublin, Kerry etc, but to compete consistently with the Kildares, Roscommons, Monaghans etc, it has to be there. Completely left behind in tactics and preparation since Counihan left. Rank bad coaching and management.

How many have of them players are playing football now , half of them on the hurling panel now , tipperary and kerry have dominated the last 10 years underage both in munster and all irelands

2004-2016 Cork won 10/13 Munster u21 football titles and 2 u21 AI in 07 & 09. In that time Kerry won one u21 munster and AI in that time which was 08.

Playing 2 sweepers at home against Kildare speaks volumes about the mindset of the management. It's not too hard to imagine the results were getting if the approach is that negative

I have no problem with that if they do it right. Most teams play that way now. Cork just aren’t very good at it though and that’s down to poor coaching.

there was probably only 3 or 4 of the 2016 wining side on the program today there are tons of players that have gone any further then 21s in cork ,hurling is one area but there has been serious mismanagement between managers and county board , there has been little done to bring these players to the next level

    wtf????

minor and u21 munsters lost narrowly in a u21 final to tyrone won a minor against against dublin in 2011 lost narrowly to kerry in 2015 have done as much if not more then cork in that time kerry have won the last 4 all ireland minor titles most of that teams main opposition has came against tipperary

tipp were missing 9 players against donegal today and won by 5 points , all because they looked after there underage cork have not and it is showing at the moment

In the 10 years Cork won the Munster 21, there was 5 years where they won in Munster by the bare minimum of one point.

In the other 5 wins, Cork's winning margin in their tightest game in Munster was 2 points, 3 points, 4 points, 7 points and 12 points. The 12 point win was over Tipp in 2011, the same year they beat Kerry by 22 points. So bar 2011, while Cork racked up a lot of wins in terms of silverware, they weren't miles ahead of the opposition.

In the same 13 year time period 2004-2016 Cork won just 3 Munster minor titles. Kerry won 8 and Tipp won 2.

Cork had success at underage in the time period 2004-2016 but it definitely wasn't complete and utter dominance by any means.

Also of the Kerry team that took the hammering in 2011, 5 started in the 2014 All-Ireland final, which Kerry won, while 1 more came off the bench and 2 more were in the squad that year.

Great points there and agree With it all.

Still, that should not mean we are a team who are probably no better then mid Table Div 3 at best now.

Cork could do a lot worse than bringing Billy Morgan back.

The further they have moved on from his revival in the mid 00s, the further Cork's stock has fallen.

We need a shrewd Kerry manager to come on and sort out the team. If we had Jack o Connor even he would have us playing decent football again. The set up and management at present need to be kicked out. There are too many pro Cork GAA lads around to try such an alternative and too proud of their own importance. Thats fine but Cork aren't winning anything now and it's a disgrace.

not sure about the kerry manager , but definitely the kerry approach , last night there were two players from na geail one from firies all junior B or novice clubs n kerry , clifford is from fossa another junior club in the county

when i was talking about underage development in cork this is what i meant , this is the module cork football should be using for the footballers , have propper setups in place to bring players through from the smallest clubs in the county and work them through to senior

today the level of conditioning and fitness was terrible , this is not management but from strength and conditioning form underage up to now , i highly doubt any of these cork players are on the same type of programs the clare lads are on , or any one else in the country for that matter , how many teams have to build there own gym in there pre season

I would agree with Morgan. We couldnt be any worse right now.

I listened to all but the last 5 minutes of the Big Red Bench on Red FM last night and there wasn't a single mention of the Cork senior footballers game. They spoke about the upcoming Harty cup final and Charlevilles game yesterday. If that had been the hurlers playing they would have analysed their game as well as having numerous interviews from players/management. Shows how much interest there is in the footballers at the moment

Liam Kearns is the man for the job IMO> Ticks the "shrwd Kerry manager" box, has beaten us in championship with Limerick and Tipp, and you see the results they get like beating Donegal yesterday that he's well able to gt plenty from an average panel. Surely he'd like to chance his arm at a higher profile county for a few years.

You can’t compare the two though. Cork is an out and out hurling county. The public want to hear about hurling on the radio, ok there is support for the footballers too but with them going terribly over the last few years the interest in them is starting to wane.
I would be hurling first but I love to see the footballers going well, but I do lose interest myself when they are falling further and further down the ranks.
