Liam Kearns is the man for the job IMO> Ticks the "shrwd Kerry manager" box, has beaten us in championship with Limerick and Tipp, and you see the results they get like beating Donegal yesterday that he's well able to gt plenty from an average panel. Surely he'd like to chance his arm at a higher profile county for a few years.

You are suggesting Kearns moves from the fifth placed team in Division Two to the bottom team in the same division. Not sure he could handle the staggering jump in profile. He'd probably take to the drink or something.

That's why I said bigger profile and not better team.

And yes, Cork Football is definitely a higher profile than Tipp football.

Something for the 5 year plan is to get a proper manager.

You can’t compare the two though. Cork is an out and out hurling county. The public want to hear about hurling on the radio, ok there is support for the footballers too but with them going terribly over the last few years the interest in them is starting to wane.
I would be hurling first but I love to see the footballers going well, but I do lose interest myself when they are falling further and further down the ranks.

+1. Our record shows we manage to muster a challenge for Sam once a generation. Whether people like it or not we are a hurling county that plays a bit of football.

That's fine and the facts would suggest the same, what we should not be is a total joke in football. Considering the numbers sustaining monaghan, roscommon and Clare at the levels they are playing cork shod be much more competitive. There is no reason why cork with a good manager, good coach who has actually coached at this level and a proper conditioning programme allied to a game plan the players understand shouldn't be much better.

Large area of Cork with little hurling. Duhallow to Muskerry to Carbery to Beara is bigger than most counties yet they produce pittance in terms of senior footballers. No excuses here. The traditional hartland of Cork football is producing scutter. Left to traditional hurling areas like the southside of the city to fill the void.

Have you ever driven to Beara? Castletownbere is a good hour and a half away from PuC on a poor road for the most of it. now imagine having to drive that road after a days work, put in the time training and then hit that road back west again afterwards. Its pretty much the same for anyone that lives on the coast in west cork. so why would they put themselfs to that effort for little or new reward.

Statement issued on behalf of Coiste Contae Chorcaí & The Board of Páirc Uí Chaoimh

The Board of Páirc Uí Chaoimh asked two members, Michael O'Flynn and Tom Gray, to examine how figures presented in the audited accounts of Cork Co Board for the year ended October 31 2018 and those attributed to Peter Mc Kenna in the Examiner interview on December 14 2018, were arrived at and to clarify the current estimated full cost of the stadium redevelopment.

The completion of a report into the cost of the Páirc Uí Chaoimh stadium redevelopment has returned an estimated cost of €95.8m.

This report was based on all information made available to the two board members and was presented to the board this afternoon.

In completing the report, Tom Gray and Michael O'Flynn have examined extensive documentation relevant to the redevelopment and have consulted extensively with all stakeholders on all relevant matters.

In arriving at the final estimated cost, provision has been made for the full replacement of the pitch at Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

In this regard, the Executive of Cork County Board has decided that Cork’s remaining Allianz League fixtures, including the double headers with Ladies Football, will take place at Páirc Uí Rinn.

A final decision on whether to undertake a full pitch replacement or other remediation work on the Páirc Uí Chaoimh pitch will be taken by the stadium board in the immediate future.

The Board will be making no further comment on these matters.

    .

Ah, Ireland. A brand new stadium, closed only months after opening.

I love how the board are literally saying "here's the bad news, and now we're not going to talk about it".

What's parking like at Pairc Ui Rinn lads? I'm down from Mayo and I'm not familiar with the area

Anywhere and everywhere. Get there early

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,547 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Clare well on top so far.

They seem to have an extra man every time in the centre of midfield which is enabling their link up play. We should be shutting that down.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,547 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Cork had only one point from play in the first half. That's abysmal

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,599 ✭✭✭eigrod

How is that not a yellow card for Browne on Horgan? Ridiculous

Just about to say the same thing

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,547 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Why on earth is no one marking Tony Kelly? He has the freedom of the park.

Cahalane is so clumsy. Get out in front of him and he is almost guaranteed to bulldoze you over to give you a free.

Ref is awful. No advantage given there when in on goal

    Ref not giving Cork much/anything...
    I'm a Clare fan..

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,599 ✭✭✭eigrod

Awful from the ref again. Browne should be sent off now and Lehane through on goal and he calls it back.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,599 ✭✭✭eigrod

    Clare very cynical.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,599 ✭✭✭eigrod

That’s 2 points Griffin has given up. Struggling hugely,

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,547 ✭✭✭The White Feather

    Griffin was asleep there

He is up on the left. In his defence ball hasn't gone near him but we need guys to go looking and fighting for it and not be passengers.

Lehane has been very quiet too and just missed there as I type

And Harnedy has been poor too. Hoggie pretty much doing it on his own up there.
