Why are "nicorette" products more expensive than most cigarettes?

    The gum usually costs €10 and only has maybe 4mg. Don't get the same effect as a ciagrette. That goes up with the patch. The inhaler is almost as much as an average/above average bottle of champagne!

    Are they trying to deter people from quitting and thus boost their profits? It certainly can't be to deter people from smoking.
