He's been plugging that for months. Great organisation isn't it? Get leave to go off and do your vanity projects/side earners/nixers/what have you and get it plugged to death for free on RTE Radio and TV AND then walk back into your job when you're finished. Actually, on that Butters, I have heard of an RTE "celeb" who did a have a deal with luxury car company for a free car, which has now ended.
He now has a new deal, driving a car of lesser prestige with a different car company. I'm told this presenter and others like him at Arr Tee Eee are now paying a nominal sum for the use of the 'not free' car.

It therefore cannot be said that they are driving a free motor and takes the heat somewhat off them.
Maybe Comerade Duffy has a similar deal and is not strictly speaking driving a free Jag, so to speak.

If that has happened I'd assume they were given some financial advice re. the above in a tax "efficient" (avoidance) manner OR else someone like say a high powered PR executive told RTE that the optics of this practice didn't look good and advised them to make such a contribution to negate or limit any negative PR at a time when Dee Forbes is crying the "Béal Bocht" so to speak. The bill for this "advice" was probably 6 figures.


I know of a certain RTE "celeb" who when moved from hosting one show to another requested an upgrade in car from the company that provided him with his free vehicle to a higher end model. They declined and terminated their relationship with him. I doubt he cared as his agent soon had him in another high-end vehickle, but like most out there he has some neck.
