    Hi
We are from Spain and we are in the process of buying a house in Sligo county. We need to open a bank account for recurrent payments and taxes.
When we try to fill the on line application form it appears an error in the mobile phone field. That is because our phone number is from Spain and seems like the system doesn't recognise it.
Can you give us a solution?
We have a solicitor in Sligo who is proceeding with the purchase of the house. He can proof our identity if it would be necessary.

    Thanks for your help

    Luis

    Hi LuisM,

    Thanks for your post here.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble with the Current Account application page. We would advise you to get in touch with our New Account team on +35314044034 (select option 6 then option 2). An advisor will be happy to go through the application with you over the phone and this number is available 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 2pm on Saturdays.

Please let us know if we can help with anything else.

    Thanks,
    Sarah

    Hi Sarah,
Thank you for your quick answer,
Can you offer us another way like an application form in pdf or communication via email with the New Account team?
Sadly, at the moment, our english is not good enough to speak by telephone.

    Regards,

    Luis

    Hi Luis,

Sorry to hear this, do you have an Irish mobile number that you can use on the online application? As I'm afraid we don't have an email option for this team. It would it be necessary to call our New Account team on the number above if you cannot use the online application.

    Thanks,
    Sarah

Why on earth do Bank of Ireland do this? What business is it of theirs what mobile number people wish to use? This is a huge problem in border areas where only a signal from one or other side of the border may be available and companies use smart aleck web forms which prevent you entering your number.
