What are people's thoughts regarding racing a 8k or 10k 2 weeks out from Dublin marathon?
Seems to be 2 diff schools of thought.
Some regard as a good sharpner others think too close.
Only other race on the lead in was charleville HM on 17th Sept.

    Thanks

P&D's plans have an 8-15km tune up race 2 weeks out from the marathon so I'd say it's done fairly often, I ran my 10km PB 2 weeks out from DCM and then ran my Marathon PB 2 weeks later.

While that's true I think the race should be considered as part of the plan in general. The P&D plan adjusts for training either side. An arbitrary ten mile race for example might not suit everyone

Spoke once with an old school coach.
Recommended a 5K/4 Mile flat out the weekend before.
