Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I thought they might do one of Lenin for the October revolution?

And a quote from the man himself:
"The black is indolent and a dreamer; spending his meager wage on frivolity or drink; the European has a tradition of work and saving, which has pursued him as far as this corner of America and drives him to advance himself, even independently of his own individual aspirations."

I look forward to the squirming justifications of racism from the usual fan boys...

Are you suggesting there is something wrong with indolence and dreaming, and frivolity and drink. I think he was paying the black a complement actually.

They could do one for the overthrow of the Shah of Iran too.

I'm just looking forward to posting a letter with sufficient postage to be delivered.

he was flying from Cuba to Russia in the 60's and they had to land at Shannon because of engine trouble so they stayed in Ireland for a night. For some reason Che and the other passengers decided to stay at the Royal Marine Hotel in Kilkee county Clare.

By chance, the young artist Jim Fitzpatrick was working behind the bar, and it was he who was responsible for creating the iconic Che Guevara silhouette which is on all the posters. There is a plaque up outside the door of the hotel to say that Guevara stayed there in 1961... although I think it may be called the Strand Bar today?

Well if it cost €1.35 that would cover postage to the UK, that too, would be great.

If you're lazy can you tape a 1 Euro coin to the corner of the envelope instead?

When I was a Nipper and we were saying " The Hail Mary" prayer in Irish.

I always the the first two words were " Che Guevara

'Sé do bheatha, a Mhuire, atá lán de ghrásta,
    tá an Tiarna leat.
    Is beannaithe thú idir mná
Agus is beannaithe toradh do bhroinne, íosa.
    A Naomh-Mhuire, a Mháthair Dé,
    guigh orainn na peacaigh,
Anois agus ar uair ár mbáis. Amen.

=(:-) Me? I know who I am. I'm a dude playing a dude disguised as another dude (-:)=

I think the stamps are really eyecatching. Brilliant idea from An Post.
Ordered them today, and it's the first time I'm really looking forward to send Christmas cards with a little Che on the envelope ...:D Oh the faces of some recipients ...

And I still have a framed Che-Poster at home, a nod to the time, when I was still a rebellious student ...

Thinking your sticking it to ‘right wingers’ by getting excited about this is rather pathetic. Plenty of social democrats, socialists and other ‘lefties’ know that Guevara was a classic spoilt bastard and deeply unpleasant individual who became iconic by 1)dying, 2) having the print become popular.

He was a racist and a notorious homophobe. He also got a rush from having people shot dead. Horrible human being.

Cuba: The liberty to be exploited by American capitalism?

Of course you would jump on that. But you go on moaning, pony, it's good for the soul to let it all out ...

When he was in his early 20s, he had some pretty ignorant opinions - apparently not untypical of over-privileged young Argentinians in the 1950s. It's nice to see right-wingers suddenly giving a shit about racism and homophobia.

Most people aren't critical because of either of those things, it was his ideas which are utterly unworkable and a vice against individual freedom.

Nope, if you asked "most" people who is most famous/iconic homophobe and racist between Guevara and Trump. Donald wins every time.

Don’t know where Che being racist sprung from. His observations during his motorcycle tour? His expedition to the Congo?

I read his Congo diaries about 15years ago. My memory was that the Congolese weren’t as committed as Che was to their liberation.

There was a lot of frustration in that campaign towards the Congolese over their lack enthusiasm and their resolve under enemy fire. Their lack of resolve often put the Cuban fighters in danger.

Calling someone a racist is very easy thing, proving you are not is very difficult and removing the stigma is near impossible.

Sure for the day that's in it, it's Día del Guerrillero Heróico somewhere in the world.
