Any easy to follow advice on how to power down /disconnect an old Simon box?
It's been unmonitored for some years and definitely some of the sensor batteries are gone for a while. But tonight for some reason it's suddenly started trying to dial out - and we haven't had a landline for 4 years, just fibre, so it's giving error messages about failing to ring out.

Trying to muffle it so that it doesn't keep waking us in the night.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Turn off the mains power by removing the fuse from the spur beside the panel. After that open the panel and remove the battery by disconnecting the 2 leads.
If there is a live external bell this will sound but will power down after 15-20 minutes.

That is one of the older classic systems.
If you press reset, user code, 71, reset. That will stop it dialing out.
The one thing about down powering that system is it will loose all programming.
Batteries can be replaced and sensor heads can be replaced to get it functional if that's what you want. It's not a system I'd spend too much money on those. It's obsolete now.

Thanks for the help and advice. Yes, I know it's pretty ancient - we're in a rented property.

If the premises is rented you should get onto your landlord before doing anything to the system. He may upgrade to a newer system if made aware of the problems your having.
