I've been burned too many times before. :pac:

I dunno, Walcott, Sanchez and Giroud for Mkitharyan and Aubameyang just doesn't scream "wow" to me. Aubameyang simply must hit the ground running til the end of the season. For this transfer window to be deemed a success means we must get Top 4. Though as I've said already we're due a decent run of form so should be close to it anyway.

Don't know how some people aren't happy, this is one of the best transfer windows we've ever had. Aubameyang is one of the top 10/15 players in the world.

When did all that Ornstein picture stuff on twitter start? I only noticed it last week and have been following him for a good while, some of it is pretty funny.

Was definitely around last year. They're great.

Reports now that Giroud to Chelsea agreed for £18m

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,690 ✭✭✭✭Skylinehead

Still paranoid about this. And still not happy at Giroud being sold to Chelsea, but hey-ho.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,721 ✭✭✭✭Ol' Donie

So, all this business with Giroud.

If we'd just coughed up 10 days ago before he was dragged into it, could we have avoided selling one of the few players (nearly) everybody loves to f*cking Chelsea? I'm more annoyed about that then Sanchez.

Also, 20 mil for him, 20 mil for Theo, 12 mil for Coq...does this mean we haven't actually spent any of our cash mountain yet again?

Meanwhile, do we now have to find one player to give to City, and one to give to Tottenham, so we can help* every last one of our rivals this season?

Whats gonna be our Plan B?

We need the plan of crossing the ball to Giroud from the 70th minute on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,721 ✭✭✭✭Ol' Donie

    Cesc, Hazard & Giroud.

Hell, I'd be very happy with them in my team.

    We throw Monreal up front.

    But hasn't that been 2018 Plan A ?

Giroud is a very valuable player for us. Not happy if Chelsea get him.

  • Registered Users Posts: 611 ✭✭✭bkrangle

Madness selling a proven goalscorer to a direct rival for £18 mill - even when the knock on effects are considered

He may be 31 but his game has never exactly been based on pace so he should have a good few years left in him.

I'm excited about Aubemayang but if he doesn't hit the ground running the atmosphere at the emirates could turn (more) toxic very quickly.

It's a real kick in the balls if he goes to that lot over there especially for a pittance. Selling our good players to rivals is utterly utterly baffling. One step forward two steps back.

You'd wonder if Giroud would even get on the bench if Aubemayang joined us. So effectively he would only see game time if there were injuries and even then it looked like Welbeck would get the nod before him. For there to be a plan B during games he would have to be on the bench and I don't think we would have the capacity to have him as an option when potentially one of Laz/Aube would be there also.

So selling him isn't as hard a decision as it seems. Aube is potentially a better goal scorer so I'm willing to take the risk on him even if it means OG leaving us.

I noticed that we are wearing the blue kit tonight. Have we even won a game in that awful kit yet? Just have memories of getting hammered each time they wear it!

Welbeck should never get the nod before Giroud for CF. Never.

Giroud and Mkhitaryan on the bench.

Looks like Jack rested and Rambo back in as well.

Wilshere apparently has an illness and is the reason he misses tonight.

Hope Giroud gets a run, and a goal.

Anyone else have a few reservations over spending so much money on a player who'll be 29 by the start of next season and who has previous about agitating for moves - especially big pay days in the far east? Not saying he isn't a top goalscorer, but I would wonder if he's still going to be fully committed in 18 months time. Hope I'm wrong of course.

True, but that's not what's likely to happen under AW.

Also why didn't we try and get David Luis off Chelsea he's clearly not getting on with Conte

    No start for Mkhi ffs.

In and ideal world you'd prefer not to have to, but the shambolic way the club's been run for the best part of a decade means there weren't many options open.

There's a real lack of star quality in the squad and with the way the club's been going backwards for years coupled with the the amount they can pay i think Aubameyang is literally the best they could have done this window.

Ive seen his name mentioned here the last couple of days. Do people actually rate David Luis as a defender? He’s a talented footballer with the ball at his feet, however he is clueless defensively and his positioning is suspect. He would do well in a back three, but would be a disaster in the default back 4 formation. I definitely wouldn’t be happy with David Luis at Arsenal.

He would be a decent option at DM though and our defence isn't full of fantastic options either , We can't rely on Kos to play every game with his dodgy achilles , Mustafi is amazing one game and terrible the next

I'm out abroad and have been rooting at the TVs in my hotel room looking for the match and cursing this foreign language. Just dawned on me that I'm an hour ahead of you here. Hope I find it or its out to try a pub for the game.

I’ve massive respect for Giroud and appreciate his service to the club over the years. Was never good enough to lead the line for a league winning team though.

However, hopefully we won’t need him tonight and doesn’t get a run out. He has one foot in the door at Chelsea now, so I’d rather he wasn’t involved.

Valid point but i don't doubt he'd give his all.

    Well done Ramsey!

    United fan here.

Watching on NBC. Maybe the greatest goal scoring tackle I've ever seen from Ramsey there.

    Absolutely incredible.

    WHAT A TACKLE !!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,717 ✭✭✭✭Arghus

"Gets plenty enough of the ball" says the commentator after Ozil is uncermoniously hacked down by Ollssen.

What game are you watching mate?

I really do question whether Laca has any pace. I don't think I've ever seen him beat someone in a foot race.

Plenty of warning signs that Swansea could do some damage to us tonight... Meanwhile in Colney, Pierre is thinking “WTF”?

I'd be hoping he'd be thinking "let me at it, I'd put them to the sword."

Arsenal have had all of the ball, but Swansea have had all of the chances. Not much movement or incisiveness up front from Arsenal.

Though Iwobi has just gone close.

I'm not watching the game. The hotel I'm in has some Aston Villa game.

Monreal again? Is he our top goalscorer this year?
