Why didn't he give it wilshire :(

    Or anyone else....

Have to laugh at Patrice Evra though, that's been a fun side joke tonight.

Another attack that ends with Walcott :(

He sure is but Walcott is supposed to have a bit of creativity in his position.

Yup, because Giroud should have kept running so Walcott could put the ball across the 6 yard box. No chance Giroud could get the ball from where he stopped.

I feel sorry for Giroud, being surrounded by so many poor players tonight, he is not the sole creative type. Looks bereft of ideas. Anyway, 2nd half has to be better than the first.?!?

Not all Walcott's fault tonight but he should be showing example to the youngsters. He's a long time at Arsenal now and still acts like a youth.
He should be taking games like this against poor opposition by the scruff of the neck.

Unfortunately he's just not that kind of player. He needs to be put through on goal, just like that example there where somehow it was Walcott's fault for the move breaking down because he confused Willock by asking for the ball to be passed to him :pac:

He was in an offside position and never even bothered to come back onside.

Eh, the ball should have been passed to him before then

65% of the ball against 35% yet they've had clearer chances.
We have turned into a pedestrian paced team. Far too slow in the build up.

A video of this match is to be played over and over in Guantanimo. That will get them talking. :D

We're through anyway as it stands with Cologne 4 - 2 up.

Still not good enough. Shouldnt be happy with a 0-0 at home to Red Star

Is there a more painful sight in the world than Francis Coquelin trying to play football?

He finds himself in advanced positions all the time, yet has absolutely no technique to do anything when he has the ball. I really can’t believe that Wenger instructs him to get forward.

Anyway, was a pretty dire and forgettable match. Through to the next round, so can afford to put out 11 kids in the next two matches. Couldn’t care less if we top the group or not.

No point wishing your life away. You know, I know and everyone else knows that Wenger will be here past 2019 so long as he wants to stay on.

    What's happening in 2019?
    Is Wenger actually gonna go?
Is kroenke going to spend big to make us challengers for the PL again?

Barren times ahead to go with the few fa cups from the last decade.
What a time to be an Arsenal fan!
Can see things getting worse rather than better.
Out of touch manager and an owner with no ambition to get Arsenal back to the top.

One of the major reasons I want Kroenke gone is that he his quite content to put up with the mediocrity that Wenger is serving up these days.
Any owner with ambition would have told Wenger to head off into the sunset if youre not winning leagues or at the very least competing for them

Yeah I agree with you, but Kroenke isn’t going to be leaving anytime soon. Was listening to this weeks Arsecast and they were talking about Kroenke. Arsenal as a club/business are becoming more valuable as an asset as the years go by, so why would Kroenke sell up. He is doing nothing for the club yet the money keeps coming in. He’s struck a goldmine. Bad news for us as fans though.

    All too true:(

I just hope that when Wenger finally leaves things change but I wouldnt hold my breath,on wenger leaving or things being any better if he does with kroenke still at the helm.

Kroenke does't make the nonsense substitutions that make no sense.
    Wenger does.
Kroenke doesn't consistently start players out of position.
    Wenger does.
Kroenke doesn't refuse to play players that are on form in favour of players that aren't.
    Wenger does.
Kroenke doesn't remain loyal to the likes of Walcott year after underperforming year.
    Wenger does.

All these things, and many many more can be solved by replacing Wenger first.

    Kroenke should sack him.
An owner with ambitions of winning the league would have a long time ago.
Kroenke is happy with his mediocre performances.
Kroenke is happy finishing wherever Wenger gets us to as long as money is made.

Kroenke goes Wenger goes,no other owner would put up with this crap.
Next manager in only has to match Wengers achievements these past few years to keep his job and im sure you agree with me when I say he's achieved fcuk all.

If a new manager came in and Arsenal won 3 FA Cups in 4 years I’d be over the moon

Even with losing Champions League football, and no realistic challenge for a title?

We'll really only get a true sense of kronke when Wenger leaves.
    Who they appoint, spending, etc.

Obviously he's not hell bent on winning trophies but how much is he responsible for not winning them.

A fair bit, judging by the mediocrity of his other sports teams.

Absolutely. I’m not expecting a new manager to come in and hit the ground running. It could take multiple changes Inn manager before they settle on one that fits

Changed my tv package from Eir to Sky last week. Delighted I missed that sh*tshow last night.

The next two games will give us a good indication of where we are now, away to City and home to Spurs.
I'm expecting only 1 point (draw at home to Spurs) from them as I believe we are playing rather poorly. Far too slow in the build up and our defence is poor.
Anything better than 1 point would surprise. I'll be praying and hoping for better though.

a lot depends which of the selected team 'turns up' on the day. I know Kolasinac missed training but really hopeful he's at least on the bench.

Just reading in the Irish Times about Santi and the fact his injury meant he nearly had to have his leg amputated! Jesus we sure know how to injure our players, don’t we! What a warrior he is.

Seen the pictures online, took a graft from his arm(including half the tattoo) and stitched it in behind his Achilles.

For whatever reason, I fancy our chances against City more than United or Tottenham.

They have a good defensive record this season, but I wouldn't say they have good defenders. Hopefully there's a few goals in it.

Not a chance we'll get anything out of this. Not a hope. Guaranteed to be well beaten.

    Yeah, I agree.

I'm looking forward to this more than going to OT or WHL (or Wembley).

We should have beaten them last year up there, and they have conceded a few lately.

    Depends which Arsenal show up.

Days like this I really, really miss Cazorla.

They've only beaten us once out of our 9 meetings since they beat us 6-3, AFAIK. We should go into this with some confidence of a result.

Should, but we won’t. We’ll be beaten out the gate!

Need to stay disciplined in midfield like we did against Chelsea.

But that was after Liverpool trashed us so i fear the discipline is already forgotten.

As a city fan, that day Cazorla pulled the strings and you beat us 2-0 at the Etihad (3 years ago?) was as good an away performance as I've seen from Arsenal in recent years. Think we might be a bit off today so you have a chance

4 at the back and a bolstered midfield. Am happy enough if Coq stays disciplined and doesn't try to come forward. No idea why we're playing Iwobi.

We have no backup CB if either of ours gets injured. We're only playing one specialist CB for a start off.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,475 ✭✭✭KaiserGunner

I'm fearing the worst with that back 4. We have 5 or so centre backs at the club and yet only 1 is available.
Coquelin better be disciplined and actually just sit in front of the back 4 for the whole game. Pointless being in the team if he goes roaming.
Lacazette out of the lineup is a strange one too, second big away game of the season starting on the bench.

Why not just play Alexis instead of iwobi and lacazette up front, iwobi has offered nothing going forward or defensively in his last few appearances.

No lacazette against pool or city????????
