Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

You've seen the way Arsenal have defended recently?

Obviously I have and that's a worry but still think going forward we've enough to see any of the other 3 teams off. Plus Welbeck can unlock any defence :)

We'd actually won 6 in a row before last night :L

We've kept 5 clean sheets this calendar year out of 21 matches.

    Bring Athletico on !!

    Worst draw possible.

    Bring them on

Season defining couple of matches ahead. If we could only cut out the slow, ponderous starts and the shocking sloppiness in defence we might have a chance

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,690 ✭✭✭✭Skylinehead

    It's something new at least!

    Well, other than Diego Costa...

he got injured last night, not sure how serious yet....

Worst possible draw, but sure anything can happen. If we were to win it, we were going to have to beat Atletico Madrid imo. So bring it on.

Same was said when we got City in the cup semi last year. It's the toughest possible draw and we will have to improve hugely on last night's performance but we can do this.

Arsenal draw a tougher opponent in the Europa than Liverpool drew in the Champions league. I love being an Arsenal fan

FWIW I think we have enough to beat Athletico, but it's the 2 legs that concern me. Would much rather be taking them on in a neutral venue in a once off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,661 ✭✭✭✭Arghus

I'd have given Arsenal a chance against Athletico in a one off in a neutral venue, but they'll probably be too strong over a two legged tie.

Could always do the heroic semi final followed by capitulation in the final when favorites. :P

Ah Shur losing in the semis is the same as losing in the final. You still have no trophy.

    My thoughts exactly.

Apologies for the poor formatting but the goals for and goals against for both teams in the league this season is a cause for concern.

They have only conceded more than one goal in a game twice in La Liga. Couple that with the fact that Arsenal generally perform very poorly against the better organized teams means we are up against it.

We have almost let in one goal more per game than they do

Another way to look at it is for every goal they conceded we let in almost 3 :eek:

    Athletic Madrid|P 31|GF 51|GA 15
    Arsenal|P 32|GF 61 |GA 43

Yeah but we get strung along, giving a crap about the season, for another few weeks.

Half of following a team is thinking about what could happen.

    I almost believe you. :P
Seville, Villareal and Girona make 3 times they've conceded 2. :P

Here is this weeks podcast lads give it a listen , Thinking of doing a skype phone in next week would anyone be interested in taking part ?

Also I'm pretty happy we got Madrid to be honest I think over 2 games we have a better chance against them , they weren't exactly massivley convincing against a very poor Sporting Lisbon side

Costa a serious doubt for the first leg according to reports in Spain

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,692 ✭✭✭emmetlego

I'd feel a lot happier if we had Mkyhitarian for these games.

Didn't Mustafi & Koscielny destroy him in our gaf last year?

Anyway, they might have conceded fewer goals than us over the past few years, but they've never had to face a fully armed and operational Danny Welbeck.

Really? Roma won their CL group guess who came 3rd behind them?

Yes spurs fan, in my opinion really. Can't say Roma are automatically better because they finished ahead of them in the group, especially considering they drew the first game h2h and Atletico beat them 2-0 in the second game. Silly point but nice try.

I would say Arsenal are better than Spurs since we've won the two games this season 2-1 on aggregate.

Atketico have improved hugely in the second half of the season. They started very slowly and paid the price with Champions League elimination. Back to their best now unfortunately.

It's not quite shooting for the stars, but not finishing bottom of the big 6 would be great.

    Well, good.

Forget it, Giroud just smashed home 2 to put them 3-2 up! Me and my big mouth!!!

Le10Sport hinting that Martial may be coming to Arsenal from Utd in the summer. He's not happy at OT behind Sanchez and Rashford.

Mustafi all over the shop, Cech shouldn't be getting beat there, he's just no mobile enough time has caught him this season he's finished as a no1
