Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Same for Kolisinac, afaik.

Very tight at the back now for numbers. Holding, Mert and Monreal as the back 3 with Bellerin and who else on the wing? Maitland Niles has played there hasn't he?

May have to go back 4 of Monreal, Mert, Holding, Bellerin.

Thinking about it there were games 5 or 6 years ago when we would have begged for a back 4 that good, now it's considered makeshift.

Santos, Squillachi, Djourou, Jenkinson..... <shudders violently>

    Bad management.

Was obvious we needed another cb and cm in the summer.

We're 2 months in and already facing a defensive crisis.

    Bad management.

Hard to disagree, Kos is always going to miss games with his achilles and we sold off Gabriel.

He might go with Holding, Mertesakcer and Chambers and have Bellerin and Monreal on the wings. Holding and Chambers have plenty of pace and Mert would be the level head in the centre, like he was against Chelsea in the FA cup final.

I guess this is why Wenger is paid the huge salary he is :(

Chambers is slow enough isnt he? Or is it just his poor defending sometimes that makes pacy wingers lose him in an instant?

4 senior central defenders with a couple of fullbacks who can fill in is about standard for any premier league team.

Not when they play CBs of which at least one is injury prone.

I just don't think we're unique in any way, or any worse than any other club from a numbers point of view.

    City:

    Otamendi
    Stones
    Kompany (injury prone)

    all others are fill-ins

    United:

    Bailly
    Jones (injury prone)
    Smalling (injury prone)
    Lindelof (hardly played, looks rubbish)

    all others are fill -ins

    Liverpool:

who cares, their defence is crap regardless of numbers.

    Arsenal
    Koscielny
    Mustafi
    All others are fill in

Not true. By fill-in, I mean players that CB isn't even their position, or they're in the senior squad but have never played.

And yet Monreal has taken to the position like a duck to water.

no World Cup for Chile means his next club will get him after he's been fully rested during the Summer.

Be interesting to see how motivated he will be with Arsenal over the next few months. I don't think he'll be found wanting be we'll soon see.

he'll probably be found punching the head off ospina :pac:

    on Sead Kolasinac…
He had a little hip problem but overall I haven’t seen him yet. I will make a check up this morning, but the news we have on him is quite positive.

    on Mesut Ozil…
He was not available for Germany, but he is now available yes. He had a whole week training, he is maybe not completely back physically to his best but he is available. There is no problem anymore.

    on Danny Welbeck…
He is available for selection again. He is a bit quicker than expected.

We do have a few injuries but this is quite an un-arsenal update. Good to not see the usual stuff of being a week short or a minor setback

Gonna take a stab then based on that I'd say it'll be:

    Cech

    Bellerin, Holding, Kos, Monreal, Kola

    Xhaka, Ramsey

    Iwobi Ozil

    Laca

with Sanchez / Dat Guy to make the bench.

Looking forward to Ozil and Lacazette getting a run of games together, it's hardly happened yet. Need the most creative and best finisher to be on the same page.

Ramsey wasn't seen in training yesterday and he may have picked up a knock. Wonder whether Jack will start.

Wenger only just said Jack isn't ready for a start

International Business Times UK: Arsene Wenger confirms Jack Wilshere is not ready to start in the league. http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/arsene-wenger-confirms-jack-wilshere-not-ready-start-league-1643140

Would love to see him have a go, though.

I hate seeing welbeck and iwobi start ahead of ozil. We really are gonna need to find a top player to fill that spot when sanchez goes

    Just sat down.

    Iwobi and Welbeck behind Lacazette

    Jesus wept.

    ****e match so far.

Two shïte teams. We're making Tom Cleverly look like a decent midfielder

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,984 ✭✭✭Soups123

A midfield of Xhaka and Elneny is just not good enough for Arsenal. Neither really offer much of an attacking threat in a game we game we need to win. Lads of front have been given nothing first 25 mins

Pleased for Mert. Good to be ahead but disappointing performance

Can't wait for the inevitable 75th min sub of Lacazette to Giroud... Some pack of donkeys this lineup.

Very very slow build ups by Arsenal.
What has happened to our speed?

    Good goal by Mert.

    Desperate stuff

Could see Welbeck limping a bit earlier. Özil an interesting choice to come on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,382 ✭✭✭✭greendom

Instant impact from Ozil. Great save

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,483 ✭✭✭brianregan09

Why the **** must he take off Lacazette every game !!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,382 ✭✭✭✭greendom

Good first half from Laca but went missing in the 2nd.

    Özil should have scored there

    Ozil should have buried that

    Penalty. Urgh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,382 ✭✭✭✭greendom

Ozil should have scored and now ee concede a harsh pen.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,984 ✭✭✭Soups123

Fcuk off ref never a poxy peno

    That's a disgrace

I hate that **** in football. Nothing in it, and even if he didn't go down, there was no way that he was getting to that ball before it went out.

Should have never been a penalty.

I doubt we will see 100 replays like they do when arsenal get a soft penalty.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,984 ✭✭✭Soups123

Cheats and refs need to be held ore accountable

    That is awful

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,109 ✭✭✭✭Quazzie

    Never a penalty. Absolute bullshït

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,678 ✭✭✭Marcus Antonius

F*cking hell! After Ozil missing a sitter. The ref made the worst call for a peno I've ever seen. They're talking about retrospective bans for diving, not that it will help us but he has to be hit with a three game ban! Awful stuff
