Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ozil deserved that, seals the MOTM award right there!

He has played well, but Rambo essentially made 3 of our 4 goals. He's not far behind.

If Kolasinac had scored that, another patented Welbeck airshot assist, alas not to be.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,692 ✭✭✭emmetlego

Showboating and acting the clown. If I was the manager, I'd be furious. Mind you, pretty sure Danny didn't mean to flick that to Kolasinac!!!

Does Welbeck offer anything besides passing backwards?

The Turkish commentator I'm listening to... His pronunciation of his name offers me great mirth! But that's about it really!!!

And he runs around like he's a stick up his hole. Should never have been an Arsenal player, pure donkey.

Seriously, and I'd like answers to this. Is it only because he's in the shop window again, that Ozil is playing such a blinder? He's been imperious tonight.

Same with Jack since he came on. Busy, probing, making passes, hard tackling...

Where have these lads been hiding for 18 months (please don't tell me where Jack physically was!!!)

Well the problem with Özil is always in the 'big' games. Reassess after this weekend.

Used to be the case, but has been poisonous for some months now even in the "easier" games. The last 4/5 games, he's found his mojo again. He's a beautiful footballer on his day!

    Laca out for united.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,382 ✭✭✭✭greendom

It was a funny game. The early lead seemed to leave the team complacent and the amount of times we gave the ball away was unreal. Incredibly sloppy at times. Huddersfield were poor and couldn't capitalise on our mistakes.

We began to assert ourselves more and more into the second half and then Ozil took over.

Ramsey had a fine game as did Ozil. I think Lacazette really showed how good he could be for us last night. I hope he's back soon enough

    Laca out for united.

Sane gets injured the week before Liverpool play them.
Kane gets injured the week before Spurs play them.
    Lacazette now too.

If we had a smidgen of their luck we'd be flying.

Of course they are. Its the only way that manager knows how to play away to the big teams. Confident we'll break them though.

Welbeck to do what he does best!

Watch Ozil unlock the bus and remove the brake!

Wenger publicity calling for a better contact for the lads means it really is the board that were the skinflints

It's very strange to hear of Wenger actually saying anything negative about the hierarchy at the club.

Hardly, the board have given Wenger well over 200m on players since 2013. Arsenal have broken their own transfer record twice since 2013 for Ozil and Lacazette. The board havent been afraid to cough up for wages. We had very mediocre players on criminal contracts for years like Almunia and Bendtner. Currently Walcott is on 130k a year.

The board can be accused of alot of things but they actually have coughed up money. Wenger is blaming absolutely everyone for his own shortcomings. If he hasnt won much its because his coaching has been appalling and so have his tactics.

200m on players in 5 years???

That’s 40m a year. You can’t compete at the top level consistently with that meagre level of investment

City spent more than that last summer.

PSG wasted more than that on signings let alone the good players!

Considering that the world record transfer fee has more than doubled since 2013 I don't consider us breaking our record twice since then to even be keeping up with the amount of inflation going on let alone surpassing it. City have smashed our record on 3 of their 4 starting defenders.

Wenger is certainly at fault but there is definitely still a sizable disparity between the amount of money we're throwing around and what some of the other clubs can do.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,573 ✭✭✭2ndcoming

Have to agree, there's spending and then there's City / United spending. We have improved but Wenger will always operate on the cautious side, just his nature.

In fairness to him though, despite the gulf in spending of the 17 domestic trophies available to English clubs since the start of the 2013/14 season Arsenal have won 6. Might not be the one you wanted but it's 6 more than 99% of clubs.

A shield is a trophy to be fair. A very non-important one, but still a trophy.

There's officially 4 domestic trophies in English football, so this.

Giving it such a sh1t name hasn't helped it's cause. You never heard Barcelona leaving out their Super Cup wins.

Thats ludicrous. He bought Ozil, Sanchez, Cech, Mustafi, Lacazette, Xhaka, Elneny, Ospina . All international highly capped players. He also convinced Kolasinac to join us when City and Chelsea were in the hunt for him.

I know City can spend more but we have been well able to buy top class players. Its just a shame our manager cant motivate them.

Cant motivate them all the time

Football is such a funny sport. Why do players need a manager to motivate them? Is it something to do with the crazy amounts of money they make? It doesn't seem to be an issue in other professional sports.
