Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Great deal
Best Android TV box available after the Sheild.
Very simple to use interface and excellent BT remote

This looks like a better deal (from same seller), no?

    GB 32GB H96 PRO+ Smart Android 6.0 TV Box

Not the same thing at all.

The Xiaomi box (and Nvidia Shield TV) use a special, official built of Android, called Android TV, which is designed specifically for TV and has TV apps.

This box is just a generic box that is running generic Android which is designed for mobile phones and is not optimised for TV.

Running hacked up version of Android for tablets that requires air-mouse.
You will only get non-HD Netflix as its not a supported device where as mentioned above the Mi Box is a certified Android TV box with access to 4K Youtube and 4K Netflix content

Cheers Out, I have a firestick and an Old Mxii and this might be a nice upgrade as i cant afford the shield at the mo.

Can all the regular used android apps be loaded or sideloaded, kodi and those that should not be mentioned ?

performance wise i am guessing it should be a nice upgrade to what i have?

    Nice find OP.

I did notice the seller has curiously low prices on a fair amount of stuff.

Seems too cheap to be true. Is the seller dodgy? I don't like when sellers feedback is for private items. Seems like they are trying to hide something.

Thanks - I asked about one earlier today :D

It is a bit - just pay with PayPal...

Should be a good upgrade yes.

While Antutu benchmarks aren't everything, from memory I remember the first gen fire stick gets around 9,000 on that test. The 2nd gen fire stick gets around 23,000 and this Mi Box gets 37,000.
Not even worth discussing the MX2 to be honest.

Kodi is available in the play store on the Mi Box.

You can also sideload whatever you want. There's an app in the store called Sideload Launcher where you can access all the apps you sideloaded using ES File Explorer.

Concern for me too but as someone else said - Pay with paypal. I've ordered another myself.

Should have no issues getting money back if nothing shows/something other than a Mi Box arrives. We would all file claims around the same time and Paypal would favour us no problem.

IMHO it is. Every item in their shop is around 60% price everyone else sells it.

Might have been an honest seller for a while, now time to flip as many as possible.

strange that he lists the mi box as unbranded

There is an app in the play store called TV APP REPO. With this app you can place any sideloaded app on the Main Launcher screen. No need then for sideload launcher. You can even place your sideloaded app in the Main positions on your Mi.

Chalk and cheese. The Mi has official support for Netflix 4k, YouTube 4k, and chromcast.

Dispatched already, hopefully it does show up now and isn't a scam
Looking at the seller and the feedback, this is his 3rd shop, all of which sell fakes if they turn up at all. Hopefully this isn't one of them. If it is will PayPal be easy enough to claim money back through? I've never had to before.

And now the auction has ended on eBay.
Lets continue this story in a few weeks to see if everyone got the "International" Mi Box or the Chinese only domestic version which is not Android TV based.

I didn't take the risk. I bought from a dodgy seller a number of years back. I received a bogus sd card and had to send it back to the seller by registered post for paypal to issue a refund. They had hoped I wouldn't bother but there was no way I was letting them away with it. In the end I was down the cost of sending the package back which was around a fiver.

That one still available is from the same seller using a different shop. I'd be amazed if this isn't a scam.

There are apparently fake Mi boxes going around, so I'd be hesitant to put the money down.

International. 3S and 3C are different models AFAIK.

Im unsure what the differences are between the 3c or 3s but would recommend anyone looking for specifics to look at this thread specifically for the mi box

Yes there's a Chinese market version that doesn't have Android TV.

The MiBox has been discussed at length here by the way:

Kinda regret ordering now (dispatched after about 10 hours!).
ordered a xiaomi power bank too for £8.
What are paypal like when you use parcel motel! Does it make it any harder for a refund?

Just about Sideloaded Launcher, I find HALauncher nicer to use. Much cleaner interface imo, I use it on my Sony Android TV instead.

Well that's just blatant false advertising..

I'll give the seller the opportunity to own up to it as a mistake and accept a return at his/her own expense or just refund me straight up. If they are going to continue to be dicks about it I'll just have to be a dick myself to get my money back.

Some lad ordered 7 after I posted it here. Sorry!

I've had both and an AFTV Stick.
Android TV on the Mi and performance in general is far superior.
Fire TV was a bit of a PITA having to hack it to get apps on and very locked down.

Miss having ethernet in the Mi though

Have a couple of Minix boxes, find them really stable and well built. Most of the €50 boxes around are horrible to use.
