So sad to see the english media bigging it up, its not hard to figure out there constant failure when they still get excited about dirt like that

It should have been neither a free kick or a yellow, good hard tackling has been basically removed from the game. Beating Spain in Seville in a competitive game is hardly failure is it?

A one of result means nothing. It was rightly both a card and free. Big difference between hard tackling and that nonsense

I tend to disagree about the tackle, but it is all about opinions.

How many times will they have to beat them for it to mean something?

Wasn't a free or a yellow imo. He got the ball first and the follow through took the man those are the best tackles to see. Hard and fair.

Not a yellow or a free, but his comments are still sad. I'm sure it'll be a thorn in Ramos' side as he goes on to further success that Dier 'put a marker down'

I think they're more upset because of who said it rather than what was said - something that has been said a million times by a million different people.

Not a Nations League game obviously but Switzerland were beaten 1-0 tonight at home by Qatar.

Switzerland are ranked 8th in the world, Qatar are 96th.

Not a great way for the Swiss to prepare for the visit of Belgium on Sunday.

Excellent half of football between Croatia and Spain.

I see Croatia won 3-2 with a stoppage time winner. I would have watched that game had Ireland not been playing. Fecking patriotism gets you nowhere. :o

Austria and Bosnia have played out a 0-0 draw meaning NI are relegated from Group B, while Bosnia are promoted to League A.

    Hear, hear! :pac:

The England v Croatia game this sunday ought to be a great watch now.

If England win or hold out for a 0-0 draw, they top the group and Croatia come last.

If Croatia manage a score draw, they come second and England last.

If Croatia win, they top the group with England last. :D

    Ah, so i did :(
Spain have 6 pts with all games played. Croatia and England 4 pts with only their game on Sunday remaining.

England win, they win group with 7pts, Croatia relegated to League B.
Croatia win, they win group with 7pts, England relegated to League B.
Goalless draw, England stay 2nd on goal difference, Croatia relegated to League B.
Score draw, Croatia take 2nd on goal difference, England relegated to League B.

tl;dr: Spain will not be getting relegated to League B.

We haven't had one of those for 18 weeks........

Good selection of games tonight from 7:45 with the two tastiest Nations League games looking to be Netherlands vs France and Wales vs Denmark. Team news:
Netherlands XI: Cillessen; Dumfries, De Ligt, Van Dijk, Blind; De Roon, Wijnaldum, F. De Jong; Bergwijn, Depay, Babel.

France XI: Lloris; Pavard, Varane, Kimpembe, Digne; Kante, N'zonzi; Mbappe, Griezmann, Matuidi; Giroud.
Wales XI: Hennessey; Roberts, Chester, Williams, Dummett; Ramsey, Allen; Brooks, Bale, Lawrence; Roberts.

Denmark XI: Schmeichel; Dalsgaard, Christensen, M. Jorgensen, Stryger Larsen; Delaney, Schone; Braithwaite, Eriksen, Poulsen; N. Jorgensen

Netherlands/France game is on Sky Sports Premier League/Mix and Virgin Media Sport; Wales/Denmark is on Sky Sports Football and VM Sport Extra 1.

Which game are you going to check out? Or will you go for the 8pm friendly of Brazil vs Uruguay at the Emirates? (Harry Palmr has provided a thread for it here)

I'm going to go for Netherlands vs France. A Dutch win would mean Germany are relegated from their group. Looking forward to seeing De Ligt and De Jong play as I thought they did well in the reverse fixture. Hope Depay can get a goal as well. Wouldn't bet against Mbappe scoring with the form he's in.

Gibraltar 1-0 up against Armenia. On track for their third win in a row? They'd only won twice in the previous 32 games in their history and never earned a point in competitive football before the Nations League began.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Wijnaldum! The Dutch take the lead after poor defending from France. N'Zonzi at fault for the goal while Varane was poor in failing to clear the ball in the passage of play beforehand.

Half-Time: Dutch probably just about deserve the lead on balance. France came into a bit more after the half-hour mark and Pavard went close with a long-range strike.

Lloris keeping France in this, they're being run off the park.

Dutch are battering the French goal here. Loris pulling save after save off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Depay playing well and causing the French defence problems. Lloris doing a Darren Randolph job at the moment with his saves.

Want to see Ndombele on for France.

Edit: Got my wish. Ndombele on for N'Zonzi.

Lloris will be needed again. Now a penalty to the Dutch. Sissoko clumsily fouls.

    And a Panenka from Depay!

Had some people telling me in the United thread a while back that Depay wouldn't improve United's squad. Clueless.

What a 2018 he's had. Delighted for him.

I'ts tough, as i post in that thread but its chalk and cheese to compare. Different style of play and at the moment to when he was there.

When he was at united he came in thinking he was the dogs bollix, coming to training in his supercar and cowboy hat and leather jacket. Trying to show he's the superstar but not doing it.

Depay back then to now has matured a lot and looks a different player.

Under mourinho and the state of the club at the moment from top to bottom he wouldnt suit.

Glaf to see hom kick on and the central up front role suits him. Had a very good game and coming on to a second good season with lyon.

I hear what you're saying, however I sense most of his critics in that thread haven't watched a game of his since he left United. That's what's frustrating because they're judging him on the guy they remember years ago when he was that flashy guy rather than what he's matured into at Lyon, and under Koeman's time with the Dutch team. He's starting to show what he's made of at long last.

Yup couldnt agree with you more, he's been very very good at lyon. People will blast, sure its only the french league.
I never get that point as clubs in the PL but players from the 'ah sure its the ** league'
Sure we bought him from the '****' dutch league.

Stand by though until things are tightend up at the club he wouldnt flourish as much, until played up front in the middle. Seems to love that role.

Big fan of his, i actually thought he was playing extremely well for us when shaw was behind him. Seemed to be a understanding there until shaw got the leg break.

Think we have a buy back so as in football you never know
